It was a noticeable weakness in his game last season and you guys should just accept it rather than thinking up bogus reasons to defend it.

He's a good TE. I know most Panthers fans who were conditioned to almost ten years of Foxball thought that because he could catch the ball that he was elite, but that isn't the case. He's good... But it also doesn't hurt to keep searching for an elite option down the road.

I also think Shockey was our best TE last year.

Good offensive line play will help that number immensely. We have to solidify our RT spot otherwise we're forced to use TE's regularly as blockers.

Olsen is a hybrid TE. He has all of the attributes of a WR with the exception of speed, although he's fast enough to get seperation against LB'ers. A TE that is a great blocker, generally does not possess those attributes (Hartstock). Olsen is the perfect TE for our offense. In order for any offense to be successful, they need to tailor the offense/plays to the skill sets of it's top players to create advantage. I think that Chud has done and will continue to do this.

PFF also shows Stew and his inability to pass block, he graded out as one of the worst pass blockers in the NFL.
