Press Release From Bobcats.com (for those interested)

Charlotte Bobcats President of Basketball Operations Rod Higgins announced today that the team has been awarded center Brendan Haywood off waivers from Dallas. Haywood was designated by the Mavericks as the team’s amnesty player.

An 11-year NBA veteran, the 7-0 Haywood has played in 733 career games for the Wizards and Mavericks, with 531 starts. He has career averages of 7.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 23.7 minutes. His career field goal percentage of .534 ranks seventh among active players and 28th in NBA history.

Haywood was a member of Dallas’ 2011 NBA Championship team, and has appeared in 53 career playoff games, averaging 6.4 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.3 blocks, while shooting .564 from the field.

The Greensboro, NC native played four seasons at the University of North Carolina before being selected by Cleveland with the 20th overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft. His rights were traded on draft night to Orlando, who later traded him to Washington.

Based on the hype McAdoo arrived at UNC with, I don't understand why people think he'll be great but Harrison Barnes will be average, when all McAdoo did for 95% of the season was shoot airballs from one side of the rim to the other.

A handfull of good plays. That's all he did all season...but I guess he plays hard. People's problem with Barnes is he can literally coast to 20 points if his shot is falling, which shows that he could probably get close to 30 a night if he "TRIED", which he almost never does. People don't like coasters, especially when they coast and are still above average.

Bc some players has the potential to be a real baller in the NBA due to their physical attribute or athletic abilities.

You see JJ Reddick? Beast mode in college, $hit in the NBA.

I dnt wanna say it, but sometimes i really do think Barnes will just be another jump shooter guy in the NBA. For McAdoo, this kid is rawer than raw meat, but he has the ability to score in many ways. Plays great defense and will get to the basket other than just shooting it from the outside. And,..... an athletic freak!!

This is a great pick up. Brendan fills a need and helps us look decent in the front court, but 2 million a year for any 7 footer is a deal in today's market. We could also flip him to some team that's desperate for size around the trade deadline because the contract is so manageable. Little things like this are how you collect assets and build a roster over time.

Sure, but a lot of guys have the potential to be GREAT. McAdoo hasn't shown anything so far but the ability to shoot airballs from one side of the basket to the other. We'll see if he calms down this season. The good thing for him is he has A LOT of room to improve, so since his stock was already high, he really can't do anything but improve it, because he didn't do anything last year but run around like a headless chicken.
