Note: MKG had the highest ranking out of any player in the Las Vegas Summer League

July 13 -- Day 1 of the Las Vegas Summer League coincided with the close of the action in Orlando, meaning a marathon of action, from 8 a.m. ET until midnight.

For those who watched it all -- like Lang Whitaker did -- got to see a lot of great performances.

Dionte Christmas joins the Ladder after capping off a nice five-game run in Orlando with a 22-point performance.

And in Vegas, six players started out their careers with performances that earned them spots in the Ladder, none more impressive than Donatas Motiejunas of the Rockets. The Lithuanian had a big debut and earns a high spot in the rankings. We'll see if he can keep that rung.

Three lottery picks also find their way on the Ladder, including Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (2nd overall pick),Bradley Beal (3rd) and Harrison Barnes (7th).

Dropped out: Miles Plumlee, Justin Holiday, Kris Joseph, Anthony Davis, Dwight Buycks, Perry Jones III

Packham on MKG

I loved everything I saw of MKG in his Summer League debut. He was one of the most aggressive players getting to the rim and attacked like a veteran. He and Kemba Walker played tough defense, helping to shut down Jimmer Fredette and the Kings. MKG finished with a line of 18 points, eight rebounds, five assists and four steals. That's a nice line right there, and earns him a high spot on the Ladder.

I thought Jeff Taylor should have came in at number ten but I guess that'll have to wait until tomorrow.

I was just on nba.com reading this and was actually disappointed with how low MKG was.

I watched A LOT of the games through Orlando and now early on in Vegas, and I did not see another rookie perform as well as MKG did. In terms of efficiency and his output in the amount of time he was in, I just didn't see any other rookie do that. And I agree, Jeff Taylor should be in this list. No doubt about it...

Barnes had a nice start to his Summer League. The No. 7 pick in the Draft scored 23 points on 8-for-13 shooting, including 4-for-4 on 3-pointers. Barnes wasn't nearly as accurate Saturday, scoring 13 points on 5-for-17 shooting. He did steal pull down seven boards and notch four steals, so it wasn't all bad.

wut.

Obviously not playing yesterday caused MKG to drop a few spots, but I would expect him to rise back up the ladder with a stellar performance on Tuesday.
