The illusion of needing another WR

Lets see what gettis and adams can do then we can talk about a need. Or bring in guy after guy after guy after guy after guy after guy and give them exactly no chance to prove themselves before we bring in the next guy. Makes sense.

All WRs not named smith will get their chance, because the Panther are not going to bring another wideout in...they believe in the guys.

Some of you have no perspective on how long it took for many of the better receivers in the nfl to develop and how Lafell stacks up. You would think that would be one of the first steps in formulating an opinion regarding the subject.

He might be....he has never proven to be one though

Brandon started the last six games last year. I would say that is proof enough.

Although six starts a star does not make. We have all seen the development the last two years. If everything I have read, seen, or heard this offseason is true, he has looked very good so far this year.

My Zod folks. He has good size, he is very good blocker, he never drops a pass he gets his hands on, all the while averaging 17+ypc. Ok, never is a small embelishment, but it was for dramatic effect so forgive me. What more does this guy have to do for you?

I regret to inform you that Brandon is a legitimate #2. Because he is our #2.

The only knock on Lafell is he does not always get separation.I think this is something they can develop but when I do not have the answer.Mike Williams is not the answer.

Seperation and hands. One season of brief play doesn't erase everything.

I can see harping on Brandon's seperation. It is the one main element most young WRs have trouble with. Although I, for some reason, don't have the concern some of you have. Not every pass pattern gets you seperation. Sometimes you are trying to clear out an area, draw down a defender, or a myriad of other reasons.

Now I do have a problem with attacking his hands. He has great hands and great concentration. He rarely drops a pass. So this was a fallacy brought on by your wanting to dismiss Brandon as a #2 WR.

Seperation is overrated if you catch everything trown at you. Sometimes I think you folks throw out preceived faults and unfounded accusations just to belittle a players ability.

Brandon has proven to Rivera and Chud that he belongs on the field. Sorry you have to live with that.

LaFell had spotty hands in college and 1 of his 2 NFL seasons.....the one season he was sure handed he saw the least amount of targets compared to his college and other NFL season.

Not knocking him....just pointing out 1 season with limited looks doesn't erase what has always been a questionable aspect of his game

I disagree that separation is overrated but feel he can develop the skill to a point where he can be a very good number 2 WR.I do agree that Chud and Rivera have confidence in him.As Rivera noted its the number 3 wr we need to step up.

I may have overstated it trying to make a point. But I still believe that pleny of WRs have trouble in this area. It is a skill that needs time to become instinct. As hard as Brandon works, I can envision him improving markedly this year. It really is the only weak link in his game.

A full off-season should aid in his development. Hone those route running skills, work on timing, just fine tune his game. I see no problem at #2 WR. It is those two spots behind him I am concerned about. Gettis, Pilares, and Adams all have a shot at some playing time. Gonna be fun watching this play out.

At least that is how I see things. And GOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
