Don't forget that capitalism rules in the NFL. Guys can talk all the crap they want, but want to get paid for "their" efforts.

Free Agency didn't come along because of all the good hearted teammates in the league

Already got 75% of his money? What are you talking about?

According to sources inside the Huddlez, the last 3 years and 18 mil. of his contract are not guaranteed. The guaranteed portion of his contract will be paid by the end of the season.

He can restructure those last 3 years and lower his cap hit even more.

No link, but it was first reported, to me at least, here on the Huddlez.

DeAngelo and the rest of those guys have also worked their entire life to win a Superbowl, if they thought restructuring to keep Stewart gets them closer to that, they'd do it... there's plenty of examples of that.

Again, it's not really about losing money... it's about when you get the money. They can shift things around to make it work.

This makes sense to me. Better said than what I have wasted two days trying to say. I now unlike you Sir.

But again, claiming he recieved 75% of his big contract he JUST signed.....is just flat out false

Oh my goodness you are a little bit bull aren't you? I know you probably do not read every thread. But it was posted recently. Maybe you can find it. Maybe you don't care too. Either way...

Yes my math was off. He will, by years end, have finished the first two years of the contract. Which was front loaded to pay him the first 25mil. Which means that the last three years are only for 18 mil, and is not guaranteed.

He very well can restructure and lower the cap hit even more if he wishes too. There are a myriad of possibilites with how to deal with this situation. I will let Hurney do the work for me.

And if that close friend wasn't in jeopardy of actually being unemployed? and that you likely only had a very small window to make money left....YOU would take a paycut? You are taking a paycut with retirement around the corner bc you don't want a single coworker working in a different city part of the year.....bc you like his water cooler talk?

Nothing about that sounds smart IMO

Totally ignored the point to my post... but that's cool. Stress what you'd like, I was trying to say the smart thing there is extending my career, and making my quality of life better. For a shifting of contract money, or even a small pay cut, that would be worth it to me. But I realize I'm not like most people anyways, and can appreciate it when another person's view is different.

I guess we just value things differently is all... no worries bud.

People overstate Stewart extending Williams career IMO. 30 is 30. Williams had absurd college mileage as well vs the average NFL

RB. Williams doesn't have a lot time left

Guys. Empathy. Ever heard of it? If you had only about 8-10 years to make money, would you spend it just playing for less money in Carolina because you are a good guy and like sharing carries with another good guy? Sure you would. You would take half what you are worth on the market, just to spend another year here in NC. Anyway, it is not like you could use the extra millions when your career is over in 5 years (or less).

This is assuming he won't go past 30, which if he is still productive, and has gas left in the tank, can happen. Even if he doesn't, there is such a thing as life after football. He'll still have chances to make money, and in the long run, if he shares the carries over his entire career, there's a better chance for him to not have lingering effects. Again, to me, that's worth a little bit less money... it's not like he won't have millions in his nestegg afterwards.

Not really necessary... he has his opinion. I respect that, and name-calling just isn't cool. I don't have to agree with it, I don't have to even understand it really (which I do, btw), but we can debate it just fine without resorting to these tactics.

Half? That's a bit much wouldn't you say? Besides, my point goes both ways... not only would it help extend DWill's career, and increase the chances of a better quality of life.. it would also help do the same for Stewie. Being part of a winning team (which is what Big Ron is building right now, btw) cannot be overstated enough. Guys do reshift, restructure, and stay on for less money, provided they may be part of something big. In a monetary viewpoint, winning the Superbowl opens up all kinds of opportunities for commercialization of your image, poster/video game/etc deals, and getting your brand name out there.

There's a chance for more money to be made in the long run, if in the short run, you sacrifice a little. I'm not saying take half the pay, but 9/10s pay for 150% return is a good gamble to make. Odds are good it will pay off, especially with all the attention being shown Cam. Think of it this way, would anyone outside of Indy have known who Dallas Clark is, had Peyton not been there getting the exposure? Yet, I can count three commercials I've personally seen with him in them. Would he have gotten those chances if he'd moved to the Chiefs for more money? Gotta think globally guys.
