Stephen Davis already experiencing memory loss

This is a slippery slope. I remember there being reports back in e day that running backs took beatings that we're the equivalent of being in a head on collision car wreck. That was anecdotally reported but there was no real movement by the nflpa or the players to do anything about it. I guess at the time it was not seen as a potential revenue stream.

It is a very slippery slope and is already sending ripples through Middle school and High School sports.I have friends that were/are pro football players that are discouraging their kids from playing.I think you will see a decline in parents letting their kids play and could be a nightmare for the NFL and college football down the road.I am not sure how or if lawsuits will be permitted but if they are it could spell bad news for football. I am sure it a matter of time before the media is all over this.

I'd like to ask the players involved in these lawsuits what they hope to accomplish. I know the obvious financial gain, but of you said ok, each of you 2500 players are gonna get a $5 million and bankrupt the NFL and screw over the current and future players as well as the fans, are they ok with that? I just don't understand it.

Liken this to tobacco users suing tobacco companies ...these suits can and will happen if there is a lawyer out there that can make a dime.

He lives in a really big compound in Columbia,SC. He owns a few night clubs here as well which ..seem to be bleeding money..

He is a partner in a few resturants and this being Columbia, SC nothing is really making money like Charlotte business.

Even Deidra Lane(who keeps Fred Lanes last name!) tried to start a business here...no shots were fired but it closed down in 6 months.

Sorry to see she made it out of jail

Bars/restaurants are horrible investments. Why if the hell would anyone want to invest in one of those (especially now) because they just bleed money. Employee theft, food/liquor cost, and just dealing with the over all BS....not a good way to put up money.

How long did Dan Morgan's God awful place last? 6 months? and he was in a nice area with rich people foot traffic.

I suspect that, like the tobacco companies, the NFL could face liability only if it can be proven that they intentionally misled players on the dangers of concussions and actively tried to repress information on it. Much more difficult in this case imo, but like you said, lawyers will try anything

most people start smoking when they are young dumb kids. cigarette companies add stuff to the cigarettes to help keep people hooked. sounds like a conspiracy theory, but it's correct. lawsuits are more to try and get those companies to stop making it difficult to quit than anything.

When will they start naming the pop warner organizations they played for, as well high schools and the NCAA? Because surely these guys didn't sustain all their concussions at the pro level.

I really like Stephen Davis but I feel like these lawsuits are out of control. I'm going to organize every single administrative assistant across the country to sue their employers because they were never warned about the dangers of tendinitis and carpal tunnel from typing on keyboards all day.

When you work at a job long enough, poo is gonna start breaking down on your body.

I don't see how you compare hits you get in pop warner and high school to the NFL level

when players (offensive) are getting ready to head to the pros most will talk about how hard it is going to be for them to go in because how much harder the hits are. it's considered obvious.

that gets thrown out when we talk about player head injuries, though. all of a sudden the hits are all the same regardless of what level they play at.

I never said they were the same. I said they can receive concussions at all levels of play. I had two separate concussions playing high school football. And those were the ones I knew about. Other times I chalked it off as getting my bell rung. Are you telling me you are a neurological expert and that concussions sustained at ages 22-40 are more critical to brain damage than those sustained at ages 8-21? Because I would love to read some of your published findings if you can provide a link.

doesn't take much to realize that the hits coming from 22-40 year old professional athletes are going to be harder and therefore more damaging than coming from those 8-21 years old. also those professional athletes are in those situations for longer every year than those much younger. compare the length of season for pop warner, high school, and college to the pros.

    • Start with Bryce, this is like his rookie year. The 1st 2 games proved her was wired wrong and it looks like (we hope) he needed a time out to reset and be the player that was drafted. He's still about a year or more away from being a top 15 QB, if the Panther give him another playmaker or 2 (a top WR and a decent TE) and maintain that line. Canales deserves credit as playing that card correctly to motivate (or refocus) his QB for one last shot to decide his and the Panthers immediate future. As a Panther fans we should hope he keeps improving as we invested so much to get him. CJ Stroud will never have a season like he had, even if he stays a top 10 QB. He's got great character so I'm rooting for Bryce to continue on his positive journey. Canales is playing the week to week thing with bryce perfectly. Nothings guaranteed, earn it weekly which builds consistency and consistency is greatness.  Keep the O-line. They've got to extend Brady C, along with Mayes that have a real good 7. Great job Morgan starting with the big guys upfront.  I really hope they draft a DE or OLB in the 1st round. Getting Brown back with A Robinson and what DJ has shown that we can have a decent D-line. Need a CB in the early rounds/ or a time FA to go with Horn.  The future as to next year being good enough to challenge for the division is within reach. Just show progress (win or lose) every week. Kudos to Dan Morgan. Plays GM like a LB. Tackle the problem and move on, don't just hope it works out. Find guys with your playing mentality and work closely with your HC to share a vision. Teamwork starts at the top and flows down.
