Moving to Florida....

Accepted a job in Florida... (Tyndall AFB).... Moving in the next few months to get closer to my kids............ Pretty excited...

FYI... Panama City is more like southern Georgia than Florida. You need to be south of Gainesville to actually be in Florida.

You are too kind. There is a reason they call the Florida Pan Handle "L. A." (Lower Alabama).

L.A. beaches are much, much, nicer than ours here in AK though; white sand, more bikinis and a lot less brown bears.

Good luck, AK Panther Fan, I'm sure you'll enjoy it, only 500 miles to Panther games!

why would you be excited to move to Florida? With all the pythons, gators, crocs, bugs, other wild life and hurricanes and hot weather and tourists, and cubans, and retired old people, and the fact that it is sinking under the ocean. I will never go to Florida. Been there before. too miserable for me.

Can't agree there. The panhandle is different from Jacksonville, which is different from Gainesville, Orlando, Tampa, Miami....all of those areas are unique. Hell, you can't really compare Daytona to any of those cities. Can't really say there's a line that divides one half of the state from another, because all areas are different.

After 10 years of -20/-40 winters and spending the summers in 55 degrees and rain for 2 months... I am ready to get back to the lower 48.... Can fly anywhere in 3-5 hours, see my kids more, and WEAR SHORTS..... Plus I get promoted .........

Don't worry, you'll enjoy Florida. You may eventually get sick of it, but you'll definitely like it for a while. I have enjoyed my time in Florida and will miss it tremendously.
