The unprepared defense theory should have been over after the 1st game.We will see teams try to contain him this year differently but that will open up someone else.We must be able to take what the defense gives.Its pretty obvious that improving our running game is a top priority given we drafted a bulldozer in the 2nd and brought in Tolbert.I also think we will be looking to throwing it to our rbs more often on hot reads to reduce him getting hit in the backfield.

Here is why i never liked the unprepared defenses theory.

Yeah bro, we all know what its like to play on an NFL defense. We know what it's like to have tea time during OTA meetings while the offense is grinding it out >.>

To be honest I remember, I think it was Pat Y say before the season started watch for defenses to be more affected by the lockout, specifically the secondary and coverage schemes... I never brought this up to anyone because... My QB just threw for 422 yards... Why would I bring it up to anyone?

Offense requires more precision and coordination between players and timing is a huge key between for example receivers and quarterbacks. Defenses on the other hand can sit back in their base defenses while they work on packages and different combinations and still be relatively effective. There really is no comparison especially for a team like Carolina who was installing a totally new offense. The only reason we were as effective as we were was because of Newton coming out of the chute so strongly. Our offense was still installing packages halfway through the season while the defense was largely set early on with the exception of adjustments for injury.

As for Pat, he is a decent reporter of what he is told but isn't exactly a football guru or that knowledgeable.

Obviously you have a vivid fantasy or you hear voices. I just told you anyone who has played football at any level will tell you that defense start out ahead of offenses early in the season.

I also didn't say that defenses starting out won't make mistakes or be perfect so I don't see how your example is relevant at all. Are you really going to say that because King caught a touchdown on a blown assignment that this is proof that offenses are ahead of defenses. By your logic then, if a quarterback throws an interception or a running back fumbles then that shows defenses are ahead of offenses, right???

Or like most people acknowledge that mistakes happen on both sides of the ball all through the season.

We can make excuses for them. They are professionals. It's not like they forget how to play football. And I'm sure if they wanted they couldve brought home tape after the season ended. Revis does it. Wonder why he's maybe the best defensive player...hmm

The truth about Cam's impact is that he will quickly become the the NFL's MVP while the Panthers will win multiple superbowls. Although his unique and special skills are impressive, no single play stands out more than the hit he put on that LB on his first INT. No one has that kind of heart, dedication and skill-set. No one!

I think his biggest impact will come in attitude change, those who became comfortable with losing see his disdain for losing. Team psyche will change as a result of his leadership and that's every bit as important to what he does statistically.
