Originally, it was 05. So I was correct that Brad did not belong in the conversation. So when I expanded it to cover the last ten years, I was the one that left TB off the list of SB winners since 01. I just noticed it. And before I could correct it, you caught me. Damm grammar police.

Brad Johnson won the super bowl since 01'. He did it in 03', that would be 02' regular season. Then you change your number to 05 and claimed victory. Then you went back to the 01 number.

Ben Roethlisberger had fewer passing touchdowns than Antwan Randel El in his first Superbowl. In fact he had ZERO TDs in the Superbowl. He also threw two picks. That team had Willie Parker in his best years running the football. The only big play Roethlisberger made that season was making a touchdown saving tackle vs. the Colts.

you two make comparably awful arguments

Thank you for your feedback. It will be passed on to the proper department for further perusal. If, in the future, we once again find ourselves in need of your insight, we will hesitate to let you know. Until then, please feel free to continue providing us with your unique mix of wit, and snit. The girls in recieving are especially proud of your ability to instigate without actual involvement. Your singular ability is an inspiration to us all.

As an aside. The boys in Legal would like to know where you learned to get people to argue with you without you ever saying anything of particular importance? Your ability to sound intelligent without actually saying anything of intelligence is brilliant. They are willing to bring you on as a Consultant.

Your posts are as bad as Foxy's coaching post '05 regular season. You add nothing to the board except horrible posting. That year was Delhomme's last hurrah before going downhill with Smith having a career year. You sticking up for Fox is like someone that still supports Bush. If Fox was any good, he'd still be here. If you didn't see the adjustments made by Ron last season compared to the same hard headed football from Fox, well then you just have been blind.

Fine, I didn't own up to Fox's bad years here in my post. But I also don't blindly follow someone that hasn't proven themselves yet like SO many of you do. Someone saying we FINALLY have a coach that knows football makes me laugh. We didn't have a winning season last year in case some of you forget. When Rivera turns this team around, then we can say he's better than Fox. Until then, he isn't. That's plain as day.

You mean the same Foxy that got us to that Championship game and the Super Bowl? Let go of Ron's nuts until he gets us at least one winning record, guys. Hopefully it's this season.

not sure if you were responding to me, but i hadn't mentioned rivera in this conversation. actually no one to that point had. it was all about fox and his deficiencies as a HC....about what went wrong and his role in it. something that many in here have been talking about for years before he was let go. if you can't notice his negative effect on the team after those first few years...if you were content with him peaking early and the overall mediocre performance of this team with him...then there might not be any help for you. this isn't about rivera. it's about fox and why so many of us are glad we moved on.

Fox was ok when Dan Henning was running the show. Fox would unleash him the last 5 minutes of the game and get wins. When he got his yes man in Jeff Davidson things went down for the offense and Foxy. He was a great coach and still is, he just has a way of doing things that only works when everything happens perfectly. When your running backs go down or your wide reciever gets hurt the season is just plain over. That Seattle game may have been different if we had Moose but he caught 100 balls for 1500 yards the year before and signed a big deal in Chicago. They tried to replace him with DJ Hacket and it didn't work out. Let's not forget Fox got to the playoffs AND won a game last year. What did we do?

I love Ron but he has not proven a damn thing yet. He needs to win some playoff games before we crown him. If you think Ron Rivera is God and Fox is the devil then you are a pretty unstable person. The truth is somewhere in the middle. Hopefully it works out but it hasn't yet. George Seifert had a big play passing attack for years and we didn't win poo.

henning was very limited in what he could do. he was as narrow minded as fox as to how to run the game. both of them concentrated on just one aspect and while it may have worked for a little while...worked very well i have to admit...it had limits and it was figured out by the opposition. when it was figured out, neither guy adapted what they did. their mindset was "it worked well before...let's just keep at it because it's a proven way to do it." the only problem was that other teams had proven that they knew how to defeat it and did so at the worst times and they did it without any fear that the fox led team was going to change their strategy.

yes, ron hasn't really "proven" anything. that doesn't detract from fox proving himself to be largely average as a coach and very limited in what he can do and the team was very limited with him running the show. he held the team back in many ways after he peaked and that more than anything was the reason that richardson cleaned house and let him go.

rivera has, though, proven to be quite adaptable and is a more progressive thinker than fox. he has shown a willingness to adapt to the strength of his team and provide his coaching staff and players with a freedom not known by fox led teams (who were always rather micro-managed).

sure...people are going to point out fox taking the broncos to the playoffs as if that will say that he's a great coach. to that i have to ask a few questions:

what was their record?

who did they beat?

what conference were they in and how tough was it?

how many more games did they win than the panthers?

where are they headed from here not just in the short term, but in the long term?

Foxy was a winning Coach, every year Jake and Smitty were healthy. But, you can say that about every coach. Without that franchise type QB, every coach is jac.

That said, Ron really has yet to prove anything. Sure we can see the potential and even the improvement. But if Foxy is held to the winning standard, we should do the same for Ron. He may be the answer, but he has yet to prove it.

Personally, it comes down to two things for coaches. Style and substance. Can you instill a winning atmosphere, and do you own the team? Those types of coaches tend to be successful. And I believe whole heartedly, that Ron fits that mold.

Just my thoughts. And GOOOOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes keep talking about Ben Roethlisberger's non-prolific season 7 years ago like it somehow is important to consider right now, and continue to avoid talking about how several years later they wouldn't have won the superbowl without him.

Brad Johnson won the super bowl since 01'. He did it in 03', that would be 02' regular season. Then you change your number to 05 and claimed victory. Then you went back to the 01 number.

Sparknotes for the 2002 Buccaneers: They only won the superbowl because fuging Jon Gruden coached the very team they were facing just a year prior. He could've started a tickle me elmo at QB for the Bucs and they still would've won.

this is probably the biggest reason i want to keep as many stud RBs in the stable as possible.

this is erroneous. Collecting studs as if they're precious commodities isn't going to better our chances of winning, especially since we don't follow the "run to daylight" philosophy anymore

plus most of the consistently good teams don't seem to be worried about not having enough stud RBs. Take a look at their roster and while their RBs look weaker than ours they seem to be much more stout than we are at other positions that count more (pass rushers, CBs, etc).

stop being afraid of things that happened like 8 years ago. plus as long as you have a good line that can open holes you can run with anybody
