You mean the same Foxy that got us to that Championship game and the Super Bowl? Let go of Ron's nuts until he gets us at least one winning record, guys. Hopefully it's this season.

2002 - 2005 John Fox: Brilliant

2006 - 2010 John Fox: Total poo

this is probably the biggest reason i want to keep as many stud RBs in the stable as possible.

like it or not, this offense depends on having a strong run game. it isn't the focus, but it depends on it.

beyond that, though, i don't ever want to be stuck in an NFC championship game with a starting RB the caliber of jamal robertson again. that was pathetic.

running game was a much bigger part of any team's success in 05

Hell the Patriots offense used to get there with Brady throwing for 3600 yards and Corey Dillon getting 1635 rushing. make it with Kevin Faulk and BenJarvus Green Ellis. Up to the twilight of Tiki Barber's career he was rushing for over 1800 yards and the Giants still couldn't make it out of the first round of the playoffs. Now their entire team rushes for about 400 yards less than that and they win the superbowl. That should tell you how prevalent the running game has become in recent years.

Once Cam matures, it won't make a difference how good the stable is at running back. If he turns into the phenomenal player we all think he can, ...well the ball's going to be in his hands for more of the plays we run.

Your posts are as bad as Foxy's coaching post '05 regular season. You add nothing to the board except horrible posting. That year was Delhomme's last hurrah before going downhill with Smith having a career year. You sticking up for Fox is like someone that still supports Bush. If Fox was any good, he'd still be here. If you didn't see the adjustments made by Ron last season compared to the same hard headed football from Fox, well then you just have been blind.

I understand that the NFL has become a passing league. It is the teams with an inadequate running game that pass so much. Out of need. We are not going to be the Pats who use the short passing game as thier running game. We have the backs to actually be effective when we run. Actually being able to run the ball keeps defenses honest. That makes sense. No?

It absolutely makes a difference how good your RBs are. Rivera and Co like the 52-48 pass to run ratio. No matter how good Cam becomes, as long as Rivera is in charge, we will try and stay at that ratio. JAG's at the RB position will not allow them to keep to that plan.

I mean, come on. It is ridiculous to think this offense would be this effective without Double Trouble. We probably would have to become that passing team you all seem to crave. Cuz average RBs make your offense average. What D gameplans for average RBs?

Some positions are just not built for jags. And RB is one of them. And GOOOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

recent history directly contradicts this claim. you can't find a RB as talented as either Williams or Stewart on the roster of every superbowl winning team going back to like 2006.

how many playoff wins since we've had a top 3 stable at RB? How is this putting us over the top exactly?

First, recent history is a bad way to make your agruement imo. Every SB winning team since 01 has had a HOF QB. To me that is more important than good RBs. But the point being. Yes you can win without quality RBs. But you have to ask why would you want to limit yourself? Why make it easier on the opposing D?

Second, well this is only our second year with an actual Franchise QB. Lets not use the old we have not won yet arguement to make a point.

If you can actually run the ball, it makes your Offense scary, and extremely tough to defend. Why is that such a difficult concept for people to grasp? A balanced O is just a more lethal weapon.

Every team wants 2 backs now. Problem arises when there are not enough good backs to fill all those slots. There are what 20 really good backs? The numbers just do not support the just plug one in theory.

1. Brad Johnson

2. Ben Roethlisberger was carried to his first ring

Jake came incredibly close to winning a Superbowl. So did Kurt Warner who imo is not even close to a HOF QB. If Eli didn't win the Superbowl everyone would call him a bust. His numbers are not that great. He got hot twice and won Superbowls but the Superbowls make him a HOFer.

Well John Fox couldn't win with bad Jake, Matt Moore, or Jimmy Clausen. Let's not forget Brian St. Pierre. Oddly enough he won with Deangelo at QB and Vinny Testeverde but that is another story. As of right now, Ron Rivera can't win with Cam Newton. We all expect that to change but it hasn't yet.

Brad Johnson was long before 05. And Tampa had a running game. So that one is mine, ha.

Ben, was carried by whom? Bettis, another RB that was pretty damm good. So this one is mine too, ha.

Jake came close, we had a running game. But hey, RBs don't matter. NOT!

Since 01 the SB winning QBs are Brady-3, Eli-2, Ben-2, Brees, Manning, and Rogers. Some of those teams DID have quality RBs. Maybe not every one. But enough to discount your assertion that you don't need one.

Winning a SB does not make a QB a HOFer. But when you win multiple SBs, you cannot discount the achievement.
