RIP Cooter...

Joker/Pantherfanz was named Marc Stanton. He traveled often to Panther away games and was seen frequently during the 2002 season with the sign "Repeete Victory".

In that fantastic photo after the blocked kick in week 2 of the 03 season, Marc was the lone Panther fan cheering in the midst of a sea of Buc fans in utter disbelief.

Thats a great picture. I used to have it somewhere. edit: Derp!

Wow.. I'm at a loss - completely in shock.. He was always a Spitfire, but one of the first guys to line up to give a hand when you needed one. Back in 2004, when I drove down from RIchmond to Charlotte for one of the first ever Huddle Draft parties, I stayed way too late having too much fun hanging with Coot, Skew, and Mush. Without any hesitation, Coot offered to put me up for the night in his home, so I wouldn't be driving home asleep or forking out any extra cash for a motel. This was with a wife and kids, and only knowing me from this board. Not many folks would do that, nor be so kind as to even offer so quickly.

He was a terrific guy with a ton of heart and a huge personality... so very sad finding this out. I hope he's found the peace he deserved, and knows how much those who knew him will all miss having him around.

I know I don't post on here much but I would gladly sponsor the Cooter tribute tailgate this year. I loved the guy and he would have given the nod for this. Pick the home game weekend and lets do it. Once again, if you didn't know him you were short changed in this life. Great guy gone too quick.

I will contribute just to take pics of all the random pig carcass humpings.

Andy (mush)... I can't remember if it was you or Cooter that threw eggs at the Bojangles truck that drove by one tailgate?? I only got to a few tailgates but I remember duct-taping Saints* t-shirt to sidewalk, the stump, and somebody egging Bojangles. Not necessarily in that order.....

That was actually the Patriots game... My father came to this tailgate and made shrimp gumbo... We all got sick of the Pats fans that were coming by, so someone went across the street to the street vendor and picked up a Pats t-shirt... We taped it to the sidewalk, and and had all the Panther fans that passed by use it to wipe the mud off their feet... We also came up with the idea somehow that rubbing that stump would bring us good luck... Once we beat the Pats, that tradition kinda stuck... (Now 'The Stump' plugs the hole my dogs have burrowed under the fence)... We tried to use Cooter's truck power the ice cream maker, but that didn't work out so well... After the game, Cosmo did her infamous kegstand... This particular tailgate was beyond epic, and (to my knowledge) could possibly be the tailgate that kick-started the tailgating tradition...

I do remember your dad,and the shrimp gumbo so maybe I'm getting confused, or maybe we did it at both. But I distinctly remember taping a Saints* t-shirt to the pavement. mostly because I paid for it and left it there to go watch the game. When Saints* fans would walk by, we'd ask them to wipe their feet and it was hilarious when they realized it was a saint T they were wiping them on..... (noone ever claimed Saints* fans were geniuses). Cooter at one point halfway dropped his drawers and faked taking a dump on the shirt to rousing applause.

Man, I remember that, too! lol It's very possible we did it at both...

I know I went to the one game with Dad and MB (pretty sure that was the Pats game), but I'm thinking I went to that Saints* game with you, yes?
