Outlook and Wish-list for 2013

Recommended Posts

Already? Yes, now that the 2012 NBA Draft has come and go, we, well I can start looking toward the future. Yes, 2013 here we come.

NBA Draft 2012:

RD 1 No.2: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist SF (Kentucky)

RD 2 No.31: Jeffery Taylor SF (Vanderbilt)

Current Roster:

PG: DJ Augustin / Kemba Walker

SG: Ben Gordon / Gerald Henderson / Reggie Williams/ Cory Higgins / Matt Carroll

SF: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist / Jeffery Taylor / Eduardo Najera

PF: Bismack Biyombo / Tyrus Thomas / DJ White

C : Byron Mullens / Desagana Diop

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Needs for 2013: Center, Point Guard, Shooting Guard

-In need of a true big man. Many thinks Bismack can play center, but really? On any competitive team, Bismack would not be seeing any time at the Center position a bit.

-Definitely need to find a legit PG for this team. I love Kemba and hopes he do live up to the hype. If Kemba does then great, we are set but we will still need another PG to back him up, bc DJ will more than likely be gone after next season.

-The addition of Ben Gordon at SG is wonderful, but his statstic has decreased since leaving Chicago and may be a bit small guarding bigger Guards. Henderson is good, not great (nothing special). We could use a Shabazz Muhammad in next year draft; that would definetly be an upgrade.

*Going into 2013, we should be set at two positions in Small Forward (MKG) and Power Foward (Bismack). We should/could look to upgrade the other three positions if we can.

(Players we need to get rid of are: Diop, Carroll, Thomas, and Najera)

2013 Draft Prospects:

1. Nerlens Noel Kentucky, 6'11" 216lbs *

2. Shabazz Muhammad (SG) UCLA, 6'6" 223lbs *

3. Cody Zeller Indiana, 6'11" 209lbs *

4. Rudy Gobert (PF/C) International, 6'11" 200lbs

5. James McAdoo (PF) UNC, 6'9" 226lbs

6. Isaiah Austin Baylor, 6'11" 201lbs

(A lot of nice big men prospects in 2013)

2013 Top Free Agents:

PG:

1. Chris Paul, UFA

2. Stephen Curry, RFA

3. Jrue Holiday, RFA

4. Devin Harris, UFA

5. Jose Calderon, UFA

SG:

1. Monta Ellis, Early Termination Option

2. Tyreke Evans, RFA

3. Kevin Martin, UFA

4. James Harden, RFA

5. DeMar DeRozan, RFA

6. Evan Turner, Team Option

7. Anthony Morrow, UFA

C:

(excluding DHoward and Bynum)

1. Demarcus Cousins, Team Option

2. Greg Monroe, Team Option

3. Nikola Pekovic, UFA

(There's no way we wont be having a top 3 lottery pick. We should once again have the worst record and finally have possesion of the No.1 pick in 2013.)

My reasonable wish list for 2013:

Draft: Nerlens Noel

Yes, the kid with the flattop. By the end of next season college basketball, a lot of yall haters will be jumping with me on the "Fear the Fro" bandwagon. Just saying, trust me.

FA: Jose Calderon PG, and either Kevin Martin SG or Anthony Morrow SG

My 2013 Line Up :

PG: Calderon / Kemba

SG: Martin / Gordon / Hendo

SF: Kidd-Gilchrist / Taylor

PF: Biyombo / White

C: Noel / Mullens

this guy starts so many threads. zomg. We aren't even close to starting the 2012 season yet. Jesus Christ. We don't even know what our roster will look like this season.

Excuse me while I go make a thread for the 2014 season

Thanks for reading. You wanna subscribe to my page? :)

Dude Noel is really not that good. I keep telling you this he is a smaller skinnery Marcus Camby.

I rather have Zellers or Austin if we go center.

Don't get me wrong, I like Zeller a lot too. It's just that I think that at the end of next season, the sure consensus no.1 player would definetly be Noel. He's almost the same player as Anthony Davis, just without the athletic ability. He's Anthony Davis 2.0. Its going to come down to either Noel or Muhammad being that player that the team with the first pick just can't pass up on.

Zeller is a better scorer than Noel and will be a great compliment to pair up with Bismack. Noel on the other hand, offense is weak and known for his shot blocking. Sounds like anyone? We were all over AD to be pair up with Bismack this year eventhough his offense was weak. So if Cho and MJ has another chance to take a second coming of AD I think that's who theyll take.

Noel and Bismack both lacked the offensive side of the ball but would that be a great defensive front court to watch though. You gotta have defense in the NBA, just look at the Heat.

My comparison to NBA players is that Zeller is more of a Pau Gasol, while Noel is a Alonzo Mourning. Either one should be an upgrade and a strong piece for this team going into the future but I'm just making my case for Noel. I think we will see Zeller's stock drop a bit next year.

I'd take Shabazz, then again it is entirely too early to begin predicting next years draft

If I could have any player for next year, it'd be Shabazz. I believe the kid is just going to be a star in the pro, especially this year at UCLA also.

But then again, we need a center so bad that if Noel or Zeller is there, we just can't pass it up. Unless if we do get that that 2nd first rd pick and it ends up bring anything close to a lottery pick then we could go Shabazz first and take one of the other big man like Austin or Gobert.

    • Where did I once say we should draft him because he's a projected Top 5 pick?   That's one of my many problems with you, your reading comprehension skills are very poor (and/or you just don't care to use your brain, one of the two).  I solely used that to point out that me pushing T-Mac isn't some absurd homerism, that at least I'm pushing someone who is deserving of a Top 5 draft pick. And despite me explaining it to you numerous times, you still seem to not grasp how QB's get placed in mock drafts vs draft grades.  They are treated entirely different in mock drafts to any other position, because of how teams generally treat them in the draft because of how important the position is. Literally any other position except QB, mock drafts generally follow draft grades with some team needs factored in.  But with QB's, draft grades are generally disregarded and they ALWAYS put a few QB's at the very top of the draft, because that's just usually what happens.  The exact same thing happened in 2022 with guys like Pickett and Willis widely being Top 10 picks in mock drafts, only for Pickett to fall to what, around 20?, and Willis going in the 2nd round (and even being the 3rd QB if I remember correctly too). The overwhelming majority of draft experts are saying there isn't a high first round grade on these QB's, but they still get mocked there because they're trying to predict how the draft will actually go. That's been my point the entire time, reaching for a QB in a bad QB draft when you have a roster as depleted of talent as ours, does not tend to work out well. And I've never said I'm not open to other players, I've very explicitly said that if a QB or DE stands out come draft time, I'm open to that discussion.  That I'd be open to Hunter as a CB but I prefer a WR over a CB at the top of the draft.  But we're also not talking about the 15th pick here where there could realistically be all sorts of possible picks to discuss.  With the first pick, there really would only be a small handful of options, T-Mac is head and shoulders above any other given our current roster and state of the franchise in general.
    • TMac is good, but he isn't pick 1 on a WR good.  Last year he would be below Nabers and Williams.  This year you could argue Hunter is the better WR.  WR at 1 better be a Calvin Johnson not a WR that disappears some games in college...
    • So because he's a projected top 5 pick he's should be the guy we draft.   Yet you say the other 2 QBs who are projected top 5 picks are not worth it because you think they aren't that good.   That's my problem with you. You just seem to only care about Tmac. I have yet to see you suggest anyone outside of Tmac. At least I'm open to other prospects.
