Nice change to "Instant replay" on challenged plays

"At NFL stadiums this fall, fans will get a look under the hood.

Consider that the latest step in the evolution of the league’s replay review system, which upon further review, has worked out a lot better than the NFL’s first attempt at merging technology and officiating.

The current system was implemented in 1999 and it has gone through tweaks. A couple more will be revealed this season. One change will be that all turnovers will be subject to review by the replay booth. The second will be much more obvious -- and probably enjoyable -- to fans in stadiums. All NFL stadium video boards now will show the exact same replay the lead official is viewing under the hood on the sideline video monitor.

“They’ll see the exact same angles at the exact same time as he does,’’ Atlanta Falcons president and NFL competition committee chairman Rich McKay said."

I saw this earlier and agree its a welcome and overdue change.

I hated going to the game and not seeing any of the replays when something was being reviewd.

Yeah, now cut out the constant bombardment with commercials in the stadium. We pay to be there!

If the NFL wanted to improve the instant replay system, they would look at college football. No need to have the head official run over to a small covered booth, stand in there for a minute and a half, then run back out. Just have a ref upstairs who has all the monitors he needs and can get a jump-start on the review when challenged, then radio down the call.

Officials get it wrong half the time when they review anyways so what does it matter? Stewart was NOT down his elbow never touched the ground. And even if it had, they couldn't see it. The evidence must be irrefutable.
