charles barkley says cam got paid at auburn

No duh he got paid, and he was worth every penny to Auburn. Hell, for what he did for that program he was almost certainly underpaid.

Anybody see that 30 for 30 about SMU's football team back in the day? The only thing teams learned from their punishment is to be more discreet. The only teams that get caught are the most blatant ones. Hell, SMU had a freaking payroll and made weekly payments to dozens of players and the only reason they got caught was one of the players ratted on them.

I've taught at UCONN, FSU, FAMU, & UW... I have yet to see a booster shake a player's hand at a dinner & not see said hand immediately go to said player's pocket... just sayin.

Yeah I've heard from players that $100 handshakes are the norm, starting in high school

The only way I would care is if the NFL suspends him. There is no precedent of them doing that but they have talked about it in the past.

I just really don't care who gets caught and who doesn't because they all get paid one way or another.

Seems a bit hypocritical of the NFL to suspend a player for getting paid to play football

I knew a guy that ran into a parked Lexus in college. He thought it was a professors car....nope Elton Brand.

Chris Paul drove a new BMW his last year at Wake. At least I think it was a BMW. It was definitely an expensive ride. From what I understand, dealerships can do special financing for someone based on future earnings, some sort of deferred payment deal. Nothing illegal about it.

Of course, in Chris's case, his parents were well off enough that they could have cosigned for it.

So you cant get paid to play sports in college, but you can borrow money based on your ability to play sports while in college. Niiiiiiiiiice

Well, techically, it would be on your future earnings potential. :)

In truth, they could probably do that for just about any student, but I guess the earnings potential for a basket weaving major is probably a little less than that of a future NBA first round pick.

Barkeley is great as comic relief. He says everything other folk's are thinking. He is rarely right but you got admit, he is funny and he is controversial which is why he gets so much press. I would love to be him, he sure has fun and says whatever he wants.

lol... Chuck thinks EVERY college athlete gets paid.

(And most, in some form or another, probably do.)

But I'm sure Charles knows more than the NCAA who did a thorough rectal exam on the Auburn program and came up with nothin'.

Just to be fair, the NCAA didn't do anything close to "a thorough rectal exam" on Auburn. If you want to see an example of that, google how long they lived at USC for in order to find the infractions they did....
