Predict the Panthers record - game by game version

Recommended Posts

Thats what I was thinking. The Dolphins CRUSHED the 11-5 patriots on their turf then knocked the 9-7 Jets out of the playoffs. That sounds very familiar. I beleive the only 2 decent teams that we beat had the same records.

They beat the Patriots in Cassells second game....he was trying to get his sea legs then.

They beat the Jets at the end of the season when Favre and the team had already collapsed.

Just like we beat Arizona when they were struggling earlier in the year to win a game on the east coast.

Just like we beat the falcons earlier in the year when Matt Ryan was just getting his feet wet and adjusting to the pros.

Please, for the love of god, stop saying "we".

You are obviously not a Panther fan whatsoever. Any fan of any team does not bitch and moan about thier team winning. why would you counterpoint him about "our" wins if you're a Panther fan?

I know our schedule this year looks tough, and is tough. But the Panthers themselves are pretty tough. Sure, we have a few flaws. But what team doesn't? The panther could turn out 7-9 or 14-2, but who knows.

I hatehatehate threads like these. None of use our fortune tellers. No one knows what injuries could happen or major trades. Anything.

Agreed....if any of us had a frekin' clue, we would be making millions in Vegas.

The season will play out regardless of what any of us believe will be the outcome.

Sorry, but those are the facts! The fact is WE played matt ryan early in the year when he was still learning and he made us pay later. The fact is WE didnt have that many quality wins last year and lost more times than won when WE played a playoff team.

And I pay good money for my PSLs every year. I dont think I would do that if I wasnt a panther fan. Just because I have an objective opinion and dont predict that WE will have a winning record every year doesnt make me any less of a fan.

Ok this is like the 5th time you've said that. Someone wanna tell me what an "LBF" stands for so I know for future reference? I assume its an insult and I can only assume you're insulting me because you are an insecure homer who doesnt like it when some of the fan base have lower expectations than you. Obviously you know deep down that Im probably right and that 7-9 is staring us in the face but dont want to accept it because you are scared about it. :(

Yup, deep down I know we will go 7-9, that's why I pluck down my own money to take the Panthers over 8.5 wins for the season.

Those keen observation skills served you well in your predictions as well. Picking the Saints to beat us, when we swept them last year. They sure have improved their team alot. Let me break down their draft for you...

1st round: DB

4th round: Two guys that are now on IR for the entire season.

5th round: punter

Yup, that's it. Plus they have 2 starting DLine that can be suspended for diuretics. Those cases still haven't been resolved. Sure sounds scary to me.

Well if you could read you would see that I predicted we would SPLIT with the saints. Never predicted that they would sweep us. In fact, I predicted we would go 4-2 in the division.

Yeah, they could be suspended but if they are it will have no impact on our game because it will be the first 4 games of the year before we play them. And Im fully aware of their draft and it was a solid one too if I do say so myself. Wow! They lost two 4th round rookies who werent even guaranteed a roster spot. What will they do now?

So you're saying because we swept them last year that its automatic we'll sweep them again since the same wins the year before are always guaranteed? Well damn then I shouldnt have predicted that we'll sweep the bucs I guess since they split with us last year too. My bad.

And they traded this years second for Jeremy Shockey and this years third Jonathan Vilma in case you forgot. So you have to include them as part of this years draft. Yeah, pretty damn awesome if you ask me.

    • Strange, every news article and tweet I just searched all mentioned waivers. It is definitely his sixth year of at least 6 games. All I was trying to think of earlier was at the vet min could he beat out Bryce in camp next year lol. He's kinda got the old Darnold issue where he can obviously launch deep balls and qb run at a level Bryce will never achieve, but it sounds like he would be content being like a Josh Allen backup who doesn't throw the whole game plan out the window if he has to come in for a series or two. If we had him and for some reason still wanted to start Bryce he would kinda do what Justin Fields was doing the other night with Dangeruss, coming in for designed runs and maybe some play action/triple option rpo things to go deep. That would be so obvious and sad though. At least Russ can still sling it 40 yards in the air with a flick of the wrist
    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
