Panthers schedule looks tough now, but will it actually be?

Why should the NFCE be tough?

Dallas - God awful defense with little to no draft or new FAs to help bolster it. They are now TOless and romo has yet to be tested without him.

Washington - Is anyone afraid of the redskins? Really? Probably the blandest team in the NFL with little to explosive playmakers. They will probably have a mediocre defense and Portis will have another grind-it out solid year, but nothing spectacular. Oh yea... they don't have a good QB.

Philly - Consistently inconsistent. They tied to the BENGALS last year... they didn't even have the decency in them to lose! Yes we could face the eagles team that looks utterly unstoppable, but we could also face the eagles team that looks extremely vanilla. I also expect their defense to take a slight dive, mostly because of the loss of dawkins.

New Yawrk - Really good team, really deep in the trenches. Easily the best team in the division, but we proved last year we are ABLE to beat them. If it's very possible for our team to take down the giants, i dont see how we can feel anymore threatened by the other NFCE teams.

seriously guys, the toughest dudes we have to face are from our own division. Each team is relatively tougher than their counterpart. Call the pats and giants equal to us (even though in reality they probably are better by a bit), atlanta is better than miami and philly. NO is better than the jets and 'boys. TB will prolly be better than washington or buffalo.

I could tell you without looking it up that ALL NFC East teams fielded top ten defense last year.

They are going to bring it and this team better be up to par if we're going to beat them. Back in '06 our NFC East schedule killed us. Even if we won just one game out of those four we would've been in the playoffs as a wildcard.

What I don't get is this is the division Fox coached in, so how has it been this whole time that he's accumulated this poor record against the NFC East as a Panthers coach?

I am saying the stats predicted Steelers would have the toughest..Schedule and they did..so the level of uncertainty is not that high..We will have a tough schedule..Now what don’t you get about that.
What he quoted from the article actually said the Steelers were supposed to have the toughest schedule and actually wound up with the 7th toughest schedule, not the toughest. I don't know where you are getting that idea from that they still had the toughest after the year was over and it was calculated on actual results (which IMO is the only strength of schedule that means anything).

Cats beat all their AFC foes last year, don't think that will happen this year, but yeah that guy saying the AFC East is ALWAYS TOUGH is a bit off. It was tight last year and two playoff teams came from it in 2006. It isn't usually that tight. The NFC East is another story though. The Cats get killed by the NFC East. The last time they beat an NFC East team was the NYG in the 2005 WC game. They need to go at least 3-1 in the AFC East because I think there's a real possibility they go 1-3 (or even 0-4) in the NFC East. They could then likely afford only 1 division loss. Their playing the NFC East is why I don't think they will be better than 10-6 this year.

I'd rather have the "harder schedule". 1. because before season starts, people are already crowning the those certain teams from last season kings again the next season and calling them the teams to beat when actually about half of the teams AT BEST actually perform as they were expected. 2. people will have no excuses about our easy schedule if we get to the top again. I'm sick of hearing other teams fans excuses of why beat this team or how we got to that playoff bla bla bla. We all know the Panthers shave the ability to beat any team out there...stop being skeerd, it's just a schedule.

We have a great team and a lot of good players at camp. I don't think we have a hard schedule at all. The competition gets tougher and so do we. No one knows if any of these teams new players will perform or not, yet. I say we make a run in the playoffs, I don't see it going any other way. We are where we need to be right now to win and as long as we keep Peppers, we are going to be a top defense next year. With the players we have, there is no reason we shouldn't be. Jake can run our offense and one huge reason we lost the playoff game is because we completely gave up on the run game. It was all bad play calling and I could of done a better job from my living room. Panther football fuging kicks ass.
