Panthers schedule looks tough now, but will it actually be?

A year ago, the toughest schedule in the league — before the season started — belonged to the Pittsburgh Steelers (.598 opponent winning percentage). Recalibrated at the end of the year, that number dropped to .525, making it the seventh-toughest card. Likewise, Indianapolis had the second-toughest (.594) before the season, which ended up 15th (.498). There was no bigger gulf moving that direction than Tennessee. The Titans schedule went from ninth-toughest (.543) to 28th (.459) after the games were actually played.

Too many people crying about next season's tough schedule (including me), so I thought this would help stop all the emofests and the "omgz we'r3 going 7-9" poo.

I now demand you all to discuss. I'm not sorry if this has been posted already.

....so your'e saying there's a chance?

Ok, I might watch now

this has nothing to do with this year or that one or the next. When you are a good team and you play hard you MAKE your schedule look weak by beating teams on it. Are we strong enough to beat the teams on our schedule? I don't know but I am not sitting around hoping like hell they all flop and don't hold up to their predicted stature as a strategy for the season.

We have a VERY tough schedule....the AFC and NFC east are always tough but any given Sunday.....

AFC East will not be tough next year.

NE should be back to form, but we will have to see how Brady comes back from a MAJOR knee injury.

Bills are still the Bills.....team that wilted against good competition in the 2nd half of the season.

Miami was the recipient of a extremely easy schedule...they did not beat a good team.

Jets....they better pray that Sanchez is another Ryan, because they do not have another decent QB on the roster.

NFCE should be very tough, but the AFCE is definitely not.

Why should the NFCE be tough?

Dallas - God awful defense with little to no draft or new FAs to help bolster it. They are now TOless and romo has yet to be tested without him.

Washington - Is anyone afraid of the redskins? Really? Probably the blandest team in the NFL with little to explosive playmakers. They will probably have a mediocre defense and Portis will have another grind-it out solid year, but nothing spectacular. Oh yea... they don't have a good QB.

Philly - Consistently inconsistent. They tied to the BENGALS last year... they didn't even have the decency in them to lose! Yes we could face the eagles team that looks utterly unstoppable, but we could also face the eagles team that looks extremely vanilla. I also expect their defense to take a slight dive, mostly because of the loss of dawkins.

New Yawrk - Really good team, really deep in the trenches. Easily the best team in the division, but we proved last year we are ABLE to beat them. If it's very possible for our team to take down the giants, i dont see how we can feel anymore threatened by the other NFCE teams.

seriously guys, the toughest dudes we have to face are from our own division. Each team is relatively tougher than their counterpart. Call the pats and giants equal to us (even though in reality they probably are better by a bit), atlanta is better than miami and philly. NO is better than the jets and 'boys. TB will prolly be better than washington or buffalo.

going into the season last year the Steelers had the hardest schedule..and at the end they still had the hardest schedule..so whats to say we wont have the 2nd hardest schedule...i think we will get tested this season

The stats that I quoted from Gantt tell you that a team's schedule before a season won't always be as tough as advertised. What's not to get?
