1st Round Pick for Miles Plumlee.

I think it just goes to show the amount of respect NBA GMs have for Duke players. They're not trouble makers, they work hard, they put the team first and are high IQ guys. Just look at Lance Thomas on the New Orleans Hornets. If he went to any other school, would he be in the NBA right now? I wonder. Being a Duke guy, people know they're getting a serious player who is going to go all out and play with discipline.

Kentucky continuously has the most talented players at their program yet Duke continues to have the most players in the NBA (not sure if that still stands after UNC and Kentucky added four players each last night). Duke players tend to have longevity in the NBA. They're professionals. Coach K treats his players like men and he trains them as men. He expects a lot from them and no school better prepares players for the NBA.

I don't know how Plumlee's career will go, but his surprising position in the draft is no coincidence. He could easily be a role player and journeyman in the NBA. Everyone expected Redick to be out of the NBA after a couple of years.Redick and Sheldon Williams didn't become the all-stars some had hoped they would, but they're professionals who work hard and do as they're told. They'll be in the NBA for a decade or more just because of their experiences and work ethic. Adam Morrisson on the other hand has way more physical ability than Redick but never cared to put the work in.

Cherokee Parks and Josh McRoberts aren't Shaq but NBA teams need guys like Parks and McRoberts. Duke players have a better understanding of the game. They don't all expect to be all stars and have all the glory. They'll go to the NBA and take a charge if it keeps them on a team and in a lineup. Shane Battier, Dahntay Jones, Redick. Every year we hear about a Duke graduate going that extra mile to help their team. Duke players are great ambassadors of the game.

I give Duke players a lot of credit. You need a 3pt specialist or a guy who's going to take a charge; get you a ball player who attended Duke.

I don't know how Plumlee is going to do in the pros, but we know he'll be able to take a charge with the best of them. lol.

I'm not sure what Singler has to do with anything. He was drafted late and chose to play in Spain due to the lockout. Your post is short and doesn't convey much. Are you implying his decision to play in Spain was disrespectful and are you questioning the professionalism of Duke players or are you suggesting Singler lacks the ability to maintain his position on an NBA roster?

The Pistons are looking forward to adding Singler. He rejected them, they didn't reject him. I don't think Singler will be a starter in the NBA but I see no reason why he can't contribute in some way to an NBA franchise.

And of course nothing is absolute, maybe Singler won't last in the NBA. But his being from Duke, if I were a betting man, I'd put my money on him being around for awhile.
