Everette Brown should have been selected 9th overall ...

Recommended Posts

We didn't get him in the 2nd round, we traded our 1st rounder next year to get him, he was a first round pick technically. He better be good and I think he will be...

Yes, we did get him in the 2nd round and that will be most evident in the value of his contract which was a big deal for us since we have so little cap room to play with.

We could have just as easily traded next years 1st for a 1st this year and taken him in the 1st round, but we didn't.

l know we picked him in the second round, I was only commenting that we traded away a 1st rounder to get him...

He was said to go in the 1st because of all these new 3-4 teams looking for OLB any other year he would been in the 2nd to 3rd round easy

When teams found out he was 6-1 and not 6-4 like a lot of places had him listed his stock fell

No, he was rated in the first round because he was the best pass rusher in the draft. He was always expected to be a 4-3 DE. Sure, because of his size and speed, he was also considered as a possible 3-4 OLB, but throughout the process, most looked at his skill set and felt his best fit is at DE.

The only real concern anyone had with him at DE is his size, they wonder if he can hold up against the run in the NFL. However, that is based solely on his size, not his production in college where he was solid against the run.

Yeah, and Dwayne Jarrett was a projected first rounder too....

/thread

Jarrett was expected to be a late first/early second round pick, whereas Brown was considered to be a top 15-20 pick by most.

he was rated in the first as a OLB in a 3-4..to rush the passer..not a DE..

BTW, Mark Schlereth mentioned Brown again today on NFL Live. He said that he was definitely the most skilled pass rusher in the draft, and he predicted that Brown would be the best rookie defender.

Dilfer picked Jenkins, who the Saints drafted.
