Cards DT Dockett still wants to be traded

Recommended Posts

Arizona Cardinals defensive lineman Darnell Dockett recently reiterated his request to be traded, a source said.

Dockett told the Cardinals after the Super Bowl that he felt he had outperformed the five-year, $22.010 million contract he signed in 2006, the source said.

The team told him then they would not trade him but might consider discussing his contract. No talks on a new deal have occurred this offseason, so Dockett restated his trade request.

Top defensive tackles are making $8 million a year or more, and Dockett, according to the source, would like to be traded in order to receive a top defensive line contract.

If only we had a player we might be able to trade to work some sort of an equitable deal for Dockett and draft picks.

panthers would still want a third to go along with dockett, not to mention the cards having to give 4 times the money for peppers that they are giving to dockett now for peppers to sign with them long term

Am I alone in having no sympathy for a guy whining after two or maybe three years of a new deal? Probably right after he finished getting all his guaranteed bonus $$ too. Hey bud, when you have a craptacular year are you all lining up to give the $$ back? No. Do you get paid your salary if you are on IR? Yes. This happens even moreso to teams who go to the SB. Everyone thinks it's THEM the team couldn't have done it without then out go the hands.

This is a universal problem in all sports unfortunately. :(

But if you can make it work for you what the hell.

I don't have an issue with a guy going to his team on the downlow and talking to them about it. That's the right way to handle it, IMO. I think it's skeevy to go to the press with that stuff.

Agreed.

I'd rather have a guy come out and say he wants to get paid rather than a guy who wants to get traded because he isn't reaching his full potential however.

Most players do though. I would have never imagend that Peppers would have been so public. Yea he played out his contract but you could tell last year he didnt give a poo and I know people will say he had a great year but sacks are not the only thing that make you great. If Dockett dose not want to be there they should move him and thats the end of the story. Same goes for Bolden I mean you think he is gonna lay it on the line for the Cards now?

This seems to be a common problem for the Cards

I dont think Peppers has been very public at all. He made one statement and his been a ghost since. Thats maybe being public for him, but not in general.

I dont blame Boldin at all for speaking out. If you remember this came up before last season, Boldin shut his mouth and played out the year with the promise from the Cards that a new deal would get done. Well another productive year has passed for Boldin and the Cards are duping him again.
