So, I'm starting a bastard version of CrossFit tomorrow. I call it a bastard version because my school's gym doesn't have too much nice equipment, so it's mostly improvised/substituted workouts, but follows (loosely) the CrossFit model. I am nervous as hell about it because the guy I am working with is in crazy shape, and I have a tendency to try to keep up with whoever it is I am working with and getting frustrated if they are ahead of me (and he is). Basically, I sense a lot of frustration in this workout, at least for this first week. I feel like my body will bounce back pretty well in the following weeks, since I've maintained some sense of athleticism, and I get enough of a pump that I think muscle memory will kick in pretty quickly and I'll climb back up to where I was a year ago. I just want to lose this looseness in my core and tighten back up everywhere else. I hate feeling like I'm jiggling as I walk. No bueno.

Joining a real live gym tonight for the first time since my son was born.

It's going to be awesome to be able to do real squats and deadlifts.

Also pretty concerned because everyone at this gym seems really serious... and really ripped. Going to be self-conscious of form, esp considering I'll be going way lighter than almost everyone there.

Good for you... and don't worry about it.

I only laugh at people in the gym that put too much weight on in an effort to impress... who cares. I constantly see mostly young guys, and mostly on the bench press, doing way, way more than they should with horrible form.

Do the appropriate weight correctly and no one will notice... and even if they do, just give 'em that Jase smile and they won't care anymore. :)

My routine today:

50 skips on speed rope, full speed; 40 curls; 30 seconds rest; x5

2 supersets of forearm, tricep, bicep curls

50 skips on speed rope, full speed; 40 bicycle crunches; 30 seconds rest, x5

3 supersets of ab pulldowns, 1 minute planking

monday was heavy chest and shoulders, yesterday was aerobic chest and shoulders, following the same formula.

I'm in my second month of Insanity. I'm mixing it in with P90X workouts. I couldn't imagine doing that much cardio 6 days a week. Seems a bit dangerous to me. The first month wasn't tough but these Max workouts are ridiculous, though they are getting easier.

It's great to see so many people working hard to be fit :)

Awesome that you guys are working hard... I'm trying to stick with it as well.

Aside from my pain in the ass elbow that's still bothering me, I'm doing good. I took two weeks off from lifting to let it heal some and started back last week. Still doing my usual back/chest/legs/shoulders/cardio only routine and switch up the exercises and weights/reps every other workout cycle.

My weight has stayed about the same, around 210-215 but I have started to see some gains in vascularity and I had to poke a new hole in my belt about 3 weeks ago since it was so loose. I guess I just need to buy another smaller belt...

Do you guys use any supplements or preworkout drinks? My husband has bought a few and likes them but I didn't like them. I just purchased Energy and Endurance from Beachbody. I'm going to give it a try. Any recommendations?
