Leg presses are extra hard on my low back... I definitely prefer squats.

I have seen the guys that load it up, put their hands on their knees and move it about 1/4 rep... Not really sure what that's accomplishing?

Of course I've seen guys do the same thing on squat, bench and literally every other exercise as well so...

And they don't rip their sauna suit doing that?

sauna suits are out, altitude masks are in.

(sorta, I haven't seen one in a few weeks now)

surprised i haven't seen anyone drop dead with a heart attack yet.

I've seen the mask to, I don't get it. Also don't get beats in the gym but anyway. Wasn't questioning your work out form was just stating an annoyance lol.

About the masks, conditioning in higher altitudes will increase your red blood count and make your body much more efficient at keeping oxygen flowing to the muscles (it is the basis for what ESPN calls blood doping - freeze your own blood during altitude training, inject during competition). But wearing the mask for an hour a day while you work out isn't going to do anything. To get the results you expect, you have to actually be in a high altitude area for weeks.

Is it the beats that bother you, or headphones in general?

I've always considered squats to be more of a total body lift, or even a core exercise, than a leg lift. When I think "leg day," squats usually aren't on my agenda. With squats, yes you're mostly using quads, hamstrings, hip flexors, but you're working a whole lot of other muscles as well. If you do low squats, you work a whole lot of your trunk.

The leg press is better for isolating your quads and is typically seen as superior than squats for quad development. Just depends on your personal goals. For whatever reason, I started doing leg press/curls/extensions and toe raises on the days I do incline and dumbbell flies.

Not gonna lie...did 6 reps at 1108 and had to push my legs with my hands on the last two.

I do leg presses some, but not that much.  I prefer the squat to start mainly because of exactly what you said, it's a whole lower body exercise although it does nail my quads... i squatted yesterday and I'm sore as fug in the quads right now.

On squat day I tend to do more stuff aimed at the quads, reg squats, box squats, extensions etc.

On deadlift day I tend to aim more at my lower back, glutes and hams after I dead with rack pulls, romanian deads and leg curls.

A year or so ago, front squats were my favorite lift. Somehow, doing them went by the wayside. Now whenever I try to incorporate them back into my routine, I cannot get the right grip. It took me forever to get the 3-finger grip in the first place, but now I've completely forgotten how to do it. I may go back to an overhand grip, but I don't feel aligned properly with that body posture.

Check out Chris Albert on Youtube. He has a ton of tips for the front squat.

Beats, I wear headphones. I just don't see how you work out with those giant things on lol

    • Tetairoa McMillan.   The last 28 1st overall picks were either a QB, DE, or OT. Seeing as I don't think we'd take an OT in the 1st and give up on Ickey as an LT yet and there doesn't seem to be a clear overall #1 type of QB or DE pick this year, it very well could be a non conventional #1 overall this year, at least in regards from the last almost 3 decades of drafts. If we didn't have Horn, I'd be more open to Hunter as a CB at #1, but we have him so another CB wouldn't be how I'd use a #1 pick.  And as much as I love Legette, if we have SB contending aspirations, I don't think Legette is a #1 on a team like that, but he damn sure is an elite #2 on a team like that.  He's more of the Smith/Higgins/Waddle to Brown/Chase/Hill (in terms of role/impact, not style of play of course). T-Mac is going to be the top ranked WR on every team's board in the end.  He is going to be a true outside #1 WR who is viewed as a consensus Top 5 WR in the game by his second contract in the same way guys like Jefferson and Chase have done.  His height combined with his speed, athleticism, and hands are near impossible to find all in one player, there is a reason his generally used comp is Mike Evans (although as he's not as thick, I personally see him more as an AJ Green). Yes, as an Arizona alum I've admitted to having bias towards the player to begin with.  But he's also someone very widely being put into the Top 5 in mock drafts lately and most of them have him as the first non QB offensive player being taken, so it's not really THAT much of a homer pick on my part anyways. If a QB or DE truly separate themselves as being a can't miss prospect come draft day, I'm open to that discussion, but until then, or if it doesn't happen, T-Mac is my pick 100 times out of 100.
    • Logjam, indeed! Makes me nervous.
