So I did my lower body after 10 days off... I can barely walk... My legs and my ass are in agony. I also feel fatigue... I might of pushed myself little too hard last night.

drink water until you pee clear. it's the only thing that can help after a grueling leg day.

Calves are basically pure genetics and you can't make them bigger without site injections or whatever.

This is accepted in the BB community.

Wrong. I was born with bird legs and had them all through my 20's. My calves are huge now and have been since I entered my 30's (38 now). I gained them backpacking and now I just trained for the last year for a marathon without lifting any weights and lost no mass.

You can gain some size sure; but calves/forearms really are about genetics.More importantly tendon length and muscle insertion determine overall size and shape. Unrelated, I had surgery and am now in an arm splint for 1 month. Being out of the cycle that long is killing me!

The gym here has been super busy...and its December.

DO NOT LIKE!

We are starting to get a few early Resolutioners, too.  I don't mind.  I have the utmost respect for those people that are actually making SOME kind of effort to stay healthy.  Most use the treadmills, so it's not that big of a problem.  And the ones using the free weights and machines are usually OCD about gym etiquette.

As for calves, I've been training them hard, and seeing decent results.  Like any muscle, you can make gains.  It's just stubborn, and doesn't grow like, say, your biceps.  As for body type and genetics, well, the same can be said for any part of the body, e.g., Cam vs. Foles.

I'm starting to hit the gym heavy again but it isn't because of some New Years resolution, it's because I run and bike more in the spring and summer and in the winter I hit the gym, it's a vicious cycle but I am already down 7% body fat since this same time last year.

I'm trying to cut weight without cutting muscle which may be the hardest thing in the world to do, very slow process.

What Chime said. Start light, work on that form. Do it a few times a week with an empty bar and work up to weight. Just don't attempt this on the Smith Machine, it will mess your form up for everything.

If you can get to half your body weight in a month you're on the right path.

&

Its not made up, it's like the forearms and necks. Those muscles are used so often and so thick and dense that they do not respond well. If you want bigger calf muscles or a bigger neck you have to work them daily and at least 5 times a week. Your forearms are little more lucky. You're working them out at least twice if you're doing back and arms in your workout regime. Adding just one exercise to them will improve a lot.

There are some very effective and simple calf exercises you can do, though. The easiest is just dumbbell calf raises on a 45 plate. Put your toes on a 45lbs. and a dumbbell on your knee to do your calf raises.

With the thick and dense muscles you have to work them out until exertion. The bad part - if you work your legs out a lot, including running, your glutes will end up this way.

I've yet to see anything about it except word on the street. My forearms and calves are twice the size of my brothers but otherwise were almost the same

There is never going to be a double blind peer reviewed study on how to get calves like chad, brah.

closest thing you'll get is professional bb who use their own bodies as laboratories.

if anyone thinks they can actually pump up their calves then be my guest wasting your time. You're just wasting effort you could be putting in to get a respectable back squat or deadlift.

or you'll be like the dude from mtv true life who got calf implants then went on to do gay porn.

I ran 6 miles last night for the first time in my life. Did it in under an hour. I wanna say 50 mins. My legs were tired as hell but I had almost no upper body fatigue.  To summarize my feels at time I will express my nerdom.

I really had things to say but the calf implants have taken anything useful to the conversation.

Funny story, during the full moon I went for a run on the mountain bike course at 3 am before work. When I got back to the car 5-0 rolled up and asked what I was doing. I told him I didn't think he would believe me. I told him, showed my bloody shins, and 1600 lumen headlamp. He laughed and told me to park on the street next time to avoid suspicion
