I've been a slob for the past three months and I feel the difference.

I'm trying to let myself go for a bit just to see a ridiculous improvement. I had gotten back into running shape over the summer - nothing spectacular, 20 minute 5k. I haven't done that since I was in high school so you marathon runners can eat it.

But I'll be getting back into my routine come the new year. Right now I have this weird 4 pack/ love handle combo thing going on. that's going bye-bye.

Don't know how many of you have tried crossfit, but I have been doing a vamped up version called SOFwods (special operational forces workout of the day) which is, ironically, based in Charlotte. I love it. I thought I was in shape before doing it, I've been lifting since high school and the good ole army got me into a leaner shape. But not only have I been able to maintain a 280- 300 PT score ( last one, 101 push-ups, 99 sit-ups, 14:10 2 mile my worst PT test to date) I have been able to add almost 4-10 pounds of muscle to my smaller frame. All my lifts have progressed significantly . For instance, my deadlift went from 320 to 375 in 2 months of hard training. I haven't tested my back squat but I can tell you it's some where close to 400ish. Try it!!!! Surrounded by motivated dudes and hot chicks can only help.

I'm going to do a creatine cycle my 2nd month and probably get a good black powder supplement for preworkout. any suggestions?

From about late October until first of December, I was on creatine and taking a pre... I've tried several and honestly most of them your body gets used to pretty quickly... The best one I've tried is probably 1.M.R.

Weirdly, for about two weeks AFTER I got off creatine, I was stronger than when I was on it...

i think i'm gonna take up 20 minute jump rope sessions with some kettlebell excercises on my off days

Jumping rope will really work on your knees and your feet as you age. As a word of well intentioned advice to you younger guys - save yourself some grief later in life and try to go for not jarring type of aerobics - I do mine these days via my concept 2 rower - I used to jump rope a lot- first thing to go were my feet and then my knees - Im a lot better now after being off the rope for several years, but I know the damage is still there.

If youre persistant it, rowing will give you a lean muscular build coupled with a weight program - great lat and upper body development and stamina. Im pushing 55 and have a better body than the majority of guys half my age.

Yeah, I'm only going to do a one month creatine cycle and be done with it, just to help me get back into the swing of things.

I have a buddy that swears by NO2 Red and one of the black powders.

I do avoid jarring excercises for that reason. My prefered aerobic is rollerblading. But I need something for my off days that I can do in a 10x10 space.
