Anyone a member of Planet Fitness...I had to quit the Y b/c...well...I just got tired of paying $65 a month...I really only do cardio anyways..just would rather pay $10 vs $65...I am terrified of lifting weights in front of other people :(

Why?

I've heard decent things about Planet Fitness, sounds like it would fit you... it's cheap I believe.

b/c it's just scary, that's why!!

I've been a little slack lately..and of course now it's cold..so running before work is waaay harder to get up ...I also quit smoking (again) 2 weeks ago..so I feel like a big bloated cow

I am running a 5k this Saturday downtown..so I'm using that as my "Get your ass motivated and back into the gym this winter and don't turn into Fatty McButterpants again!!!"

b/c it's just scary, that's why!!

I am running a 5k this Saturday downtown..so I'm using that as my "Get your ass motivated and back into the gym this winter and don't turn into Fatty McButterpants again!!!"

haha..well...sort of, I guess..and to be honest..I started back like 2 years ago :(..like a dumbass..MrPF quit w/me this time..so that's a even bigger bonus!

I just got slack..a little more wine here and there..We got Izzy..so the I had to go home and let her out which meant I didn't make it to the Y anymore after work..IT'S MY DOGS FAULT!!!

I will be running after work today :) I promise!

I will say...HUGE difference running now that my lungs are all cleaned out

I bet!! Go get you some cold weather running gear. Its not bad once you get going.

Good on you for quitting.. stay away from those damn things.

What's scary about it? That you're not doing it right?

I've run a few times in the cold..when the sun is up :)...but at 6 a/m...it's dark.....and cold :(

pretty soon sun will be up by then again.

Like biscuit said, good for you for quitting, keep it up!

I just feel like a moron doing it in public..I care too much what ppl think about me..that everyone is watching and laughing at me..maybe it's a girl thing..

Yeah, um... pretty sure they're not laughing at you... ogling maybe.

Unless someone is doing something really stupid (which I do see a good bit) I personally pay them no attention in the gym.

Good rule is go light, focus on form, don't swing or sway to move the weights, and you're good to go.

I've beat this into my wife and kids when they go with me. You look a hell of a lot dumber trying to move weights you shouldn't, than just going really light and working properly.

This is really a problem with young guys... I see that poo ALL the time... high school and college aged guys (particularly when there's a group) all on the bench, trying to out press each other instead of actually doing any work.

Question for you pull up peoples.

This doesn't make sense to me. I finally got to where I could do 6 wide armed pull ups in a row without a break. I was pretty excited. I took a week off and when I came back I went back down to only being able to do 3 in a row. I couldn't get back to 6. I just lost it. I got so down because it was a goal I was working towards that I didn't do pull ups for weeks now I can only do two.

WTF?!!! Do muscles revert that quickly? What muscle do you think it is that is weakening so quickly?

Does any of this sound normal? My husband can take long breaks and come really close to his previous record.

That is odd that you lost that many reps that quickly... did anything else change?

Usually when I'm out for any decent period (ie, more than 2 weeks) the first thing I notice is lacking is endurance and not strength.

I would say that in general, women probably lose muscle more quickly than men... the whole testosterone thing... but it shouldn't be THAT noticeable...
