So i'm on a reducing sugar kick. I've been reading about it and trying to reduce my sons sugar intake which is harder than one would think. I watched the documentary last night called Fed Up and I'm going to put more effort into it for myself and my son.

Did you watch it locally or online? I saw them interview the guy that made it on Real Time last week and wanted to see it but couldn't find it locally. Sugar is basically the new cocaine and the addiction starts young. If you enjoyed that, you may want to check out Hungry for Change, awesomely informative documentary!

So, I started eating more--a lot more--and it seems to have helped the belly bloat I was experiencing. I mean, I could feel and see that my waste was smaller and beer gut smelting away, but I have had the belly bloat coverin it up for about 3 weeks. Started eating more, and POOF, it goes away. Really starting to lift more now and am not hell bent on getting a 6 pack like I was before. That will come in time. Pics in 2 weeks.

Like I said in a previous post, I'm reducing my sugar intake. Haven't had a sweet in over a week which is amazing for me because I eat them almost daily. I just realized I stopped craving something sweet days ago.

Best of all I have reduced my child's sugar intake to under 30 grams a day, except on Sunday when I allowed him two small brownies.

Max amount recommended for kids has been hard to determine, every source I read is different, however reducing it dramatically was my goal and so far so good. Breakfast has been a pain in the ass though.

More deadlifts yesterday...  it's so hot in the gym right now... ugh...

I got 455 x5, first time I've done that...  500x1 goes up pretty easy now...

Tried 550 again, didn't get it up to but about mid-shin, which isn't as good as last time... literally felt like my eyes were going to pop out...

We had a good workout tho...  did some sumos and some rack pulls up to 365 after the deads.  Back is feeling it this morning.

How do I know if I'm losing fat or muscle?

I've lost 4 lbs in the past 2 weeks.  I have a scale that shows body fat % but it's all over the board with me so I don't trust ie: yesterday it said i was at 18% and today I'm at 20%. Few weeks ago I was at 22% and it's shown me at 17% before which i don't believe.  So i don't really trust that.

I am eating less calories (maybe 1400-1700 per day), very few bad carbs, practically no sugar and lots of protein. I'm going heavier with weights, but have reduced my extreme cardio workouts which include a ton of push ups (knee problems). Still working out about 45-60 mins a day 6-7 days a week cardio and weights.

I have very little fat to lose (not trying to be braggy) but it's there, I can see it on my inner back thighs and outter butt, in certain lighting i can see the cellulite, so I know I've still got some fat to lose and i'm really trying to get it gone. I hear that stuffs a bitch to get rid of and it doesn't bother me that much but I'd like to attempt to get it gone.

Any opinions or suggestions to help out?

Only way to know that cat that I know of is to test your bodyfat %.  Unless the loss is noticeable to the eye... or take progress pics.

I did take some pics. Figured that would be useful.

Losing weight wasn't necessarily what I wanted so I'm not so sure it's a good thing or not.

Honestly at your level of fitness your weight is pretty irrelevant.

I would like to lose a few % points of bodyfat myself, but I couldn't care less what I actually weigh.

I've been hovering around 215 for about 2 years, only now I have more muscle and less fat than I did both when I was heavier and lighter.

After my surgery I almost hit 230 in 2011... then I got it down to below 210 in mid 2012... now that I'm at 215 and fit, I'm much happier with my body than I was at either of the other weights.

I agree, weight really isn't relevant to me.
