I've never done a dead lift before but id like to. They look pretty difficult. I wouldn't really know where to start.

Finally had the guts to unrack 405 on the squat today.

First time in about 15 years... Got two reps pretty easily.

Legs are not the issue... Still working my back up to the heavier weights.

That's awesome dude. I don't know if I ever want to get under 405 again. My max parallel squat back in the day was 600lbs. I'm getting some of that strength back since I started lifting again but I'm not going to do anything that requires me to wear a belt. I'm just sticking with high rep stuff.

Quite a few guys in my gym dead and squat in socks.

For deads it let's you lift the bar about 1 inch less from the ground.

When I was overseas working with foreign militaries, many many many people do everything in bare feet, even distance running.

I've never sniffed 600.... most I ever did back in the day was 405.

I'd like to get up to at least 455 now... maybe 500, but it's just so damned dangerous idk if I'll try it or not.

I'd really like to hit 1400lbs on dead/squat/bench combined.  Right now I'm at 1230 lbs.  My bench is relatively weak compared to the others...  I think I can get to 450 squat and 550 deadlift this summer.  I don't see me getting to 400 on the bench tho, so that's probably out.

1400?

I remember in high school I thought I was top poo for making what was called the 1000 pound club

Well I kind of need a goal other than just lifting everyday... my original goal was 1200 and I got there... so I'm aiming a little higher.

I mean, in all reality it's good, but it's not like elite or anything.  Based on everything I've read, I'm well in to the "advanced" category for my weigh (215 currently) but I know there are a lot of stronger guys out there in my weight class.

Plus, as has been pointed out by the huddle peanut gallery more than once, I'm pretty fuging old compared to a lot of the guys in here (and to most of the guys I work out with), so...

I kind of like showing those young 25 year olds how to deadlift heavy poo. :)

I haven't lifted heavy in ages. I think last time I went 405 on the squat was around 2009 when I was lifting with a bunch of "bench bros". Every day was chest, shoulders, traps or tris.

I couldn't keep up with them on the bench. But one day they decided to squat and I had to show off. We had one who benches over 350 struggling with 225 on the squat. It makes no sense to me.

Somehow I've become partial to front squats. I don't get nearly as much weight but I feel like I get much more out of it.

I guess my workouts have morphed into a combination of what Cat does with some "sustainment" lifting. I'm definitely not going to set any PRs with my regime that I'll be starting again soon.

There were two bros in my gym last night that were upper body dudes. They looked deformed or like cartoon characters. I was going to take a pic but didn't want to set off the Planet Fitness lunk alarm. No gymtimidating you know? But it looked like a stiff breeze could have shattered their legs.
