Whats up all? Its been stupid at work so my posting has gone down the drain. I was able to compete in a camp wide powerlifting comp. this past week. I competed in the 191-202 class at 195 There was some stiff competition to say the least.

My number were:

Back squat- 445

Bench- 325

Deadlift- 415

total-1185 : #1 in my class!!! there some great benchers here, but no one really squats. I think thats what enabled me to take #1.

woooooooooooo

Took Fiz's advice about doing deadlifts strapped and got some chalk from a guy that I did deadlifts with on Wednesday...

Was able to easily get 405x4 and 455x2 unstrapped with chalk... that chalk is the bomb...  and that was a really good point about being able to simply drop the weight if you get in trouble... something you can't do if strapped up.

Ill catch you soon! Youre a beast!

I have switched from mixed grip to double overhand grip on the deadlifts, to some detriment to the total amount I'm lifting.

Had been feeling some tension occasionally on my biceps tendon and didn't want to risk injury as I move up in weight.

My grip strength is getting better, which is helping me across all of my lifts.  I should've done this sooner.

My weight is still hovering in the 180 range as I cannot seem to eat enough to go to the next level.  I am a leaner 180 than I've ever been, though.

Deadlift has quickly become my favorite exercise... partially because I'm pretty good at it, but it's just fun too.

...and it's a great total body exercise.

I got 515 Monday, and I swear I thought my eyes were gonna pop out.

Weirdly, I have no issues getting the bigger weight off the ground, the struggle is more towards the last 5-10% up.

Thats amazing! My 415 was easy, but due to being on borrowed time I wasnt able to go higher. I feel like ive got 440- 445 in the tank.

I've actually surprised myself with the weight on the deadlift.  It wasn't long ago that I just tried 405 for the first time.

I've been pushing on bench, but I'm just not that strong on it.  I got 305x1 on Sunday with Joscott, granted that was on my sixth set after also doing 135, 185, 225, 245 and 275, but I doubt I could do more even if I warmed up and jumped right on it.

I'm trying right now to get to 1200lbs total combined on dead, bench and squat.

So far I'm at 515 on dead, 305 on bench, and the most I've done on squat is 315, but I can get it 8x.  Squats just kill my shoulder joints holding the bar on... the weight on my traps and back isn't an issue at all.

probably an RC issue. When I broke my collarbone I had massive RC issues because of it healing wonky.

Killed my legs tonight. Not posting my stats don't want to embarrass myself after that fiz post... Will have a tough time walking tomorrow though.

Never have shame.  Improvement is improvement.

Did some more deadliest yesterday, and my back and legs were not near as sore as they were after my initial jumping back into them.  Did:

135x8

185x6

230x4

I didn't do anymore after 230.  Still feel like I need to take it slow, plus I evidently hadn't stretched enough and my hamstrings were starting to tighten up; I was a little apprehensive to keep pushing them.  Just trying to get back into the routine of things.

ETA:

A buddy of mine turned me on to this Freeletics website.  It's essentially calisthenics that stress either or both strength and cardio, the idea being to improve your time.  Gotta say, right now I like it.  I have IT band issues, so I can't run as much as I used to [my long stride just exacerbates the tendon].  Kicks my butt in about 10 minutes.
