Huddle Workout Warriors

I just finished the first transition week of P90X3. I like it pretty good though 30 mins is a little short for me, I'm use to working out an hour. So i occasionally add another workout in with it. My husband is just doing the 30 mins and he seems to like it too. It has lots of variety. I'm in pretty good shape and it's challenging which is my favorite part.

I already had the dumb bells and the pull up bar from P90X so the equipment wasn't a problem for me.

edit: It has an MMX workout. I'm actually thinking about skipping it. KenpoX became my least favorite P90X workout because all the twisting fuged up my knees. I'll likely replaced MMX with an Insanity workout.

I might just go ahead and get P90X3 and test it out. My garage's support beams will allow me to do pull ups without purchasing extra equipment, and it never hurts to have a few dumbells around. I hear you on the insanity discs. I did the program and now supplement my everyday routine with a random disc. Cheers.

Just finished an hour of intense cardio! Love that post workout feeling.

So I thought I'd share a recipe. I love cereal and eat it too often. It's hard to find "clean" cereals so I made one. I used Bob's Red Mill Muesli as a starting point. It already has whole grain oats, flaxseed, sunflower seeds, and dried dates. I added shaved coconut, raisins and sliced almonds. I eat it with almond milk. it's very filling and super healthy. I mix it all together and keep it in a container so it's ready to go, quick and easy.

I seriously have about 4 bowls of cereal a day. I love cereal and milk and there's no chance I stop eating it.

Usually eat mini wheats if I wanna keep it clean, Vector or some Almond oatmeal crisp for a treat. Vector is heavy so I won't eat that after dinner.

Might have to try out your recipe though. Does it taste ok? Obvious answer would be "yes, or why would I eat it" but if you're like me, if it tastes good that's usually a bonus.

Read some of you guys take your kids to the gym, I have 3 foster kids and just got a family

membership at my gym for them.

My 13 year old enjoys it and has been coming with me everyday now for 2 weeks. The other two are loss causes, just keeping them out of jail is good. But he's concerned because one of his "pecs" is bigger than the other lol. But at that age typically which every side is dominant one is going to be bigger. He mainly likes to go for the scenery though, so he's the perfect workout partner for me.

  • 2 weeks later...

You guys doing well?

My back and ass is sore today after working out with Joscott yesterday... no, not that Jase...

Deadlifts...

Set my new personal record at 475 x 1.  Wanted to try 500 but was too chicken... should be able to do it next time.

I need to get some stickem or something... I did 405 x 2 pretty well with no straps, but couldn't do 455 unstrapped, bar kept slipping.  Had to strap up to do 455 and 475.

One of the beasts in our gym was squatting near us and he showed us good form on the sumo deadlift.  I'm sure my inner thigh and groin will be sore later today from that.

Well, very generally, lift a lot and eat a lot.

I would concentrate on heavy compound lifts... squat, deadlift, bench, overhead press, pull up/down, etc. and avoid isolation type stuff (bicep curls, etc.)

Do those things maybe 3 days a week and do basketball related (explosive type) exercises the other days.

Eat a lot of protein.

Protect your knees if you're trying to put on that much weight and then play ball.
