Encountered a screamer today. While he was quarter squatting 95 pounds. LMAO

Was a dude in our gym Friday doing chest and grunting very loudly. Many people were staring. He's a decent kid and a Panthers fan too, but I admit it was a tad over-the-top.

I did my highest deadlift yet with 435 Friday. Was easier than I expected. I've been wanting to get up to 2X my bodyweight since the first time I did 400.

Me and Joscott did legs today and I tweaked my damned lower back on the third set of squats... Put a little too much weight on one leg stepping back from the rack and I felt my sacroiliac tweak... It's tight as hell now... :(

lol... true.

Yesterday wasn't as bad as I expected... I think the "real" New Years Resolution crowd waits until next Monday... today will tell.

Everybody doing well?

I've been hitting it pretty hard even though I felt a little sick/cold starting this weekend...  that Airborne poo is the BOMB.  Knocked it right out.

Set a few personal records lately...

420x4 on the deadlift last Thurs.

5 plates (45's) on the T-bar row with Joscott Sunday before our epic season ending beatdown of the Failcons.  I'm calling that 250lbs, (close enough)

295x2 yesterday on flat bench press with Joscott and he got 245x6 (both on our 5th set)

I tried 315 for 1 and got stuck... :(  first time I've even tried it though so...

Leg day today, yay.

Had a pretty great workout today. I'm assuming it will be like that all week. I am so pumped for the game.

Also- is it just me, or does Kaepernick skip leg day?

He is kinda skinny with arms so maybe... lol

Today and tomorrow will probably be ridiculously crowded... We'll see I guess.

My back is still tweaking a bit so I may hit the chiro today... That should fix it.

I figured it was about time to jump in on this thread.  I started getting serious about fitness in October.  Throughout the years, I have gone off and on to the gym.  My diet definitely outmatched my gym intensity.  After putting on the most weight in my life during grad school, I started being more cautious about my food intake.  Really, it was alcohol that was doing it to me.

I am now working out more routinely, eating consistently healthy foods, and cutting out all sweets, fried foods, and alcohol for 5 months.  I had a little slip up last night, and drank some beers, but I have been pretty solid up to that point.  I am a naturally thin guy, and most of my weight gain occurs in my stomach, obliques, and back.

Starting weight [second year of grad school in 2012]:  190

Current weight:  170

Workout regimen [usually four sets of everything]:

M:

Run 20 min

Cable Crossovers

Lying Tricep Extension

Barbell Bench Press [alternate each week w/ dumbbell]

Rope pulldowns [triceps]

Incline Dumbbell [alternate each week w/ barbell]

Close Grip Bench

[Thinking about going to push ups instead of the free weights for my chest, shoulders, and triceps.  I'll try that today and share my experience.]

T:  Cardio.  Usually an Insanity disc.

W:

Run 20 min

Barbell Curl

Wide Grip Pulldown [back]

Incline Dumbbell Curl

Cable Row

Dumbbell Preacher Curl

Close Grip Pulldown

Obliques & Lower Back [floor exercises]

Shoulder Shrugs

Tr:  Cardio.  Usually an Insanity disc.

F:

Run 20 min

Lower Back [floor exercises]

Squats

Dumbbell Lat Raise

Standing Calf

Military Press

Lunges

Bent Reverse Fly

Leg Curls [hamstrings]

Sat:  Cardio.  Usually some sport, but Insanity during cold weather.

Sun:  Rest.

I don't care too much about gaining tremendous muscle mass right now.  My focus is on getting my gut down and losing some of the wale blubber in my midsection.  I have been consuming more alcohol than I want as of late; about 2 drinks a week.  Last night, though, I had more than enough beer.  I feel like poo [physically and mentally].  Gotta stay stronger than that.

Anyway, thought I would share.  I'll keep posting my progress and variations on my regimen.  Also bought myself a FitBit for Christmas, so that has helped track a lot of my food consumption.

Curious to know what some of your guys meals look like during a regular day?

Last year when I was cutting like crazy I was on the good ol chicken and spinach, egg whites, and more chicken diet.

Now that I'm just trying to maintain my weight and don't drink protein shakes or any of that stuff. I usually have a vector bar before the gym just for energy and just to get something in me since I work out first thing in the morning. Then I usually have a sandwich on whole wheat bread with spinach and chicken or I will have pasta with a decent amount of extra lean ground beef in it. Dinner ill have eggs and some toast or which ever one of my usually 2 lunch thingys I didn't have.

I also eat alot of Mini Wheats, I love cereal and milk and I always will. I often get lazy and just have Mini Wheats for many meals since there's no sodium in Mini Wheats. Oh yeah, and sometimes ill just quickly pop a can of tuna in my mouth for lunch if I'm feeling really lazy or just want some protein.

I rarely eat junk food and if I do I designate a day of the week to do it (cheat day). With Xmas just passing, I had my fair share of crap and haven't craved anything like candy or chocolate since. I'm not a calorie counter and never will be, but I do watch my sodium intake and always checking the amount of sodium in something before I buy it.

I hate cooking and have no issues with eating the same crap daily. Just curious what some of you guys eat?

When I'm really into it and able to go first thing in the morning, I usually just have a dinner roll and/or oatmeal before going. When I get back, I've worked up a huge appetite and I really really believe in breakfast. It's my biggest meal of the day.

And I rarely eat a healthy breakfast. Waffles, scrambled eggs or omelettes, sausage, bacon, maybe liver mush or liver pudding, grits, fruit, toast with nutella, and then maybe more oatmeal.

I eat a banana between breakfast and lunch

Lunch is usually leftovers... typically baked or grilled white meat, leafy veggies and usually rice or some kind of potato.

When possible I eat another small serving of leftovers between lunch and dinner, but mostly it's more fruit.

For dinner, this drives my wife nuts, I'll usually divide it into two portions. Half now, half in a few hours. I do that mostly for two reasons, because I like to do a little something - whether it's just walking with the kids or whatever, and to avoid late night munchies. Dinner is usually similar to lunch, but I won't eat more than one serving of red meat a day.

I usually eat yogurt at some point in the day and an almond milk based smoothie.
