Good but Inexpensive Smokers

I want to start smoking meats, fishes, and veggies but do not want to spend a load of money on a new smoker. (until I become more experienced.)

I've come to you huddle for suggestions and recommendations.

How much are you trying to spend? I have a weber and paid about 250 for it, decent and has lasted pretty well I think the new ones are like 250-300 range at Lowe's, don't go to the store they charge more

You can go to Lowes and get one of the vertical smokers for like $50. They are good to learn on. Even the electric smokers are reasonably priced.

Lowes and such sell conventional charcoal grills that you can get an accessory smoker box for (which is what I personally enjoy using) but we've used gas smokers to help handle large amounts of pork and they seem to work OK.

My wife bought me a Weber Smokey Mountain (WSM) last year for my birthday and I love it... Have smoked pork butts, briskets, ribs, and chicken on it!

Good starter, and works in in the Spring, Summer and Fall, but not so good in the winter. I use wood chips and just toss a few in the bottom every 30 minutes or so when I first start smoking.
