Charlotte Bobcats trade SG Gerald Henderson to Sacramento Kings, SF Corey Maggette to Grizzlies. Memphis Grizzlies send No. 18 pick to Kings, SF Rudy Gay to the Timberwolves. Minnesota Timberwolves trade C Nikola Pekovic and SF Martell Webster to Bobcats, swap 2012 first-round draft pick (No. 18) with Memphis Grizzlies' 2012 first-round draft pick (No. 25), SF/PF Derrick Williams to Sacramento Kings. Kings send SG Tyreke Evans to the Grizzlies, C Hassan Whiteside to Wolves.

Case for Charlotte: Shed salary, get a center who can score and battle with other big men down low, secure a decent wing player who can defend and hit the odd three. This trade is a no-brainer for the Bobcats, who would probably have to throw in a future protected draft pick to the Kings in order to seal the deal. If the Bobcats proceed to draft Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (as I think they should), they would have a potent and young frontcourt in Kidd-Gilchrist, Biyombo, and Pekovic. It hardly matters who your guards are, your team will be, at the very least, competitive almost every night with that trio. If Charlotte drafts someone like Tony Wroten or Will Barton in the second-round, the team will be much, much improved for the next season.

We already have cap space, $14 million dollars of it... to be exact.

Whoever thought of this just took the Bobcats from a seven win team, to a zero win team.

They took 30 points (Maggette and Henderson) from a seven win team and replaced it with 20 points (Pekovic and Webster).

This has to be one of the most stupid trades that BR has come up with.

so rudy gay, tyreke, and derrick williams all get traded and we get none of them, we give up hendo and maggs? for webster/pekovic? thats horrible. hendo is our best player, we dont trade him unless we draft beal, then i still dont want to honestly.

We can't score now. Take away maggette and Hendo and we couldn't throw it in the ocean. As it's been said, we have cap room and Maggette is an expiring contract. Pekovic is a nice player, but we'd lose more games without those scorers (unless that's your plan). I also demand that we receive Hassan Whiteside because he is from gastonia.

    • This is a wild statement it’s to late to save his season with six games left? That mountain of bad film as a rookie with trash coaching a weak azz line and dismal WRs. Guys that can’t catch on with other teams or guys traded to teams that are subpar at best. We put Bryce in a terrible situation to start his career does that matter to you or you feel he should’ve, as a rookie elevate this dumpster fire. If you’re giving him a fair assessment judge him off the last four games a good o-line decent WRs still not comparable to any other young QB WR room Hou (tank/nico..) Tua (Hill/Waddle) Caleb (Moore/Rome/Allen) let’s see what he can do with a decent structure around him for the next few weeks then let’s revisit how we’re going to grade or assess his performances.
    • As a bit of counterpoint, if he wanted to continue his professional career then handling it like a mature adult was the only option. Dude had been playing like absolute ass and needed to own it. It's great that he did but it's not like he didn't have a large amount of self interest in doing so. Not picking on Bryce specifically here, as this applies to any player or even anyone struggling early in their career. And he still has a long way to go, but signs are positive.
    • I agree he could still develop, but I think that could still be developed in practice. Just after a scary injury like that, I'm nervous to see him get reps in a live game situation when the best possible outcome is nothing more than worsening our draft selection. That said, I'm 100% not a doctor, so if he's clear to play, he wants to play, and there's no potential of aggravating this injury (which by all accounts it doesn't seem that is the case for this type of injury) then go for it, I guess.   But you hit the nail on the head. This draft class is really impressive. I can't remember the last time I was so impressed with a rookie that I'd actually prefer shutting him down. His game is so apparent that he doesn't need to prove anything at this point. Can't remember the last time that happened!
