Will Tolbert negate the need for another TE?

Barnidge showed a ton of promise. They kept him over the other TEs from the Fox era. Maybe the coaches saw something. Lets see if Chud can turn him into something before we overpay for what will be a 6th or 7th option in the passing game (Smith, Lafell, Olsen, Gettis, Tolbert, Stewart)

Come on KP, not every pass is perfect. So now we are critiquing receptions down to the inch? I would be truly interested to know what type patterns have you concerned? Because to me. The only pattern I see a flaw in, is the crossing patterns. Which are the most difficult to throw in the first place. Once those become second nature, he gonna totally beast out.

Seam routes, sideline routes, post, and outs are all patterns Cam kills. I believe this is because the action is moving vertically. As opposed to crossing patterns where the action is moving horizontally. As I said, crossing patterns are the tough ones. You have to be comfortable and trust your instincts. And I believe Cam is a little off mechanically where it comes to these type of patterns. He will get it, as he will lick any and all, real or precieved, flaws.

Anywho, that's my thoughts on this here subject. And GOOOOOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I prefer a good 6'5" TE over a little fullback. If Cam has one weakness it's accuracy. We need guy with a nice big catch radius.

Disagree. He misses some passes high sometimes, but all in all he's pretty precise. A 60% completion percentage as a rookie is not bad at all. Some of those were not his fault either. I expect him to consistently be in the 65-70% completion percentage range this upcoming season with a few bad games in the 55-65% range.

cam's accuracy will improve as he gets more into the groove of things.

i doubt he will ever be a pin point accurate, surgical strike kind of guy, but he doesn't need to be and the idea that you have to be that to be elite is just nonsense.

he'll be an elite QB because of what he can do on the field. the production will speak for itself as well as the wins. he gets the ball where only his receiver can get to it. he trusts them to get to the ball just in the same way they trust him to get them the ball. he's a gunslinger so he's willing to take risks but he's got more than enough talent and accuracy to get the job done and be among the very best, the elite, not just at QB, but at the game as a whole.

oh...and regarding the OP, no. tolbert doesn't take away from the idea of the 2 TE attack. he just adds another weapon and element to this offense.

question might be asked, with the addition of brandon lloyd at WR and mckid back as OC in new england, will their 2 TE attack be negated? nah.

i think the 2 TE sets are going to be around for a while, but the better OCs are already looking ahead and moving forward while the rest of the league catches up to what they did last year.

this team was one of the pioneers of the 2 TE set last year, at least as far as having it be an important part of the offense.

chud will do whatever it takes to not try to catch up with the rest of the league, but be something that the rest of the league will have to catch up to.

the most innovative minds don't copy what others do. they see what works and make it better and they take advantage of what thy have lying around and make it do things that no one else thought of.

what we will be seeing the panthers do in the next year or two will be, imo, just as jaw dropping as last year was. i have no desire to see this offense do what others have done or did last year other than win and there is no one way to do that. there is no recipe to follow or copy. you don't try to recreate anything. you create a way to win games and expect to change it along the way.

I really want Nelson Rosario to get a shot at playing #2 TE.

He truly has a some incredible hands, and with his bigger frame and WR speed he could be a mismatch for LB's at the next level, and develop into a reliable target for Cam.

i hope he's smart enough to build on that and not let himself be limited by it.

TEs are the way to go....not putting more RBs on the field. I still think people that think Tolbert is going to be a traditional FB will be disappointed. He is going to take reps from Double Trouble and be the only back on the field at times. Yes, he will play some FB but he was brought here to do much more
