If the Bobcats do trade back...

Apparently you didn't read the entire post. What part of "Doubt that Jones would fall that far, but I've seen him in the early 20s, and nothing would be stopping Charlotte from making a deal (24 & 31) to move up a few more spots to get him" don't you understand?

We would not use the 24 and 31 to trade back into the 1st round......because we WOULD NOT have the #31 pick.

Why does everyone not understand teh Cleveland Trade Scenario....it is a scenario where we give Cleveland the #2 and #31picks and we get picks #4 and #24.

Show me that in writing, because I haven't seen it.

I've seen "#2 for #4 & 24". Nowhere have I seen "#2 AND 31 for #4 & 24". If that's the case, it's the media's fault for not always saying it.

I was also under the impression that it was the 2 and 31 for 4 and 24. Most of what ive read states 2 for 4 and 24 but the last article I read said it was our 2 picks for their 4 and 24.

Will try to find where I read that, but bottom line is its all just rumors.

NBA Rumors: Charlotte Bobcats Close To Dealing No. 2 Pick To Cleveland Cavaliers

(rantssports.com)

"After the 2012 NBA draft lottery awarded the New Orleans Hornets with the No. 1 overall pick, the Charlotte Bobcats were put in a very weird position. The team with the worst winning percentage in NBA history, albeit in a lockout shortened season, would now be relegated to picking the second best player in the draft, whoever that may be. Kentucky Wildcats center Anthony Davis has long been deemed as the consensus No. 1 overall pick, and for good reason. But now that the Bobcats hopes of obtaining a franchise-changing player like Davis are dashed, they really do not have a solid backup plan.

Players like Kansas’ Thomas Robinson, or North Carolina’s Harrison Barnes, are not seen to be franchise cornerstones like Davis is. So one of the Bobcats options is to possibly trade their pick to another team, thus moving them down in the draft and possibly acquiring multiple first-round picks. Many teams have gone this route and, for a select few, it has worked. According to rumors this is now the route that the Bobcats are close to taking.

The Bobcats are rumored to be close to swapping picks with the Cleveland Cavaliers, who own the No. 4 and 24 picks in the first round of the 2012 NBA draft. It is still uncertain who the Bobcats would take at the four spot but, it would have to be someone who they know is not going to be picked the three teams in front of them, the Washington Wizards, Cavaliers (if they do wind up trading with the Bobcats), and the Hornets. The Bobcats would reportedly swap their second pick with the Cavs 24th, and it is still unclear what else, if anything, would be included in the trade.

The Cavaliers on the other hand are feverishly looking to move up so they can get their hands on the hottest prospect in the 2012 NBA Draft, Florida guard Bradley Beal. Beal is skyrocketing up every teams draft board and the Cavaliers, even though they have a franchise guard in Kyrie Irving, feel that Beal is just too good of a prospect to pass up. Drafting Beal will not come without its headaches though as Irving has made it known that he would like to see Harrison Barnes in a Cavs uniform next season. But if Beal really is that good can the Cavs pass him up just to satisfy Irving?"

Still not convinced that's what they meant, because there's a thousand ways they could've written that better. I'm still going with 4, 24, and 31 until I see it clearly using the #31, that it's included. Chad Ford, are you listening?

Bobcats, Cavs to trade draft picks?

UPDATE: Steve Kyler of Hoopsworld adds to the speculation by reporting that sources are telling him Cleveland has an offer on the table of Nos. 4 and 24 in the first round for No. 2.

Kyler joins the list of writers who believe the Cavs want Bradley Beal and they need to move up to No. 2 because Washington plans to get him at the No. 3 spot.

-- Nick Borges

----

We noted a couple of days ago that the Cleveland Cavaliers were interested in trading up in next week's draft so they could select Florida's Bradley Beal with the Charlotte Bobcats' No. 2 overall pick. Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer believes a trade of draft picks between the two teams could well happen.

"After calling some sources with lottery picks Saturday, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Charlotte Bobcats and Cleveland Cavaliers swap draft picks in Thursday's draft. In that sort of a deal, the Bobcats would pick fourth and 24th and the Cavs would move up to No. 2," Bonnell said.

"From the day he became part of this front office, general manager Rich Cho has talked about gathering extra assets, and that generally means extra first-round picks. It's a strategy the Oklahoma City Thunder leaned on when Cho was part of that front office."

There are plenty of rumors and smokescreens out there as the draft nears, but this one at least makes sense for the parties involved -- especially if the Cavs really want a player like Beal and they think the Washington Wizards will take him with the third overall pick.

What do you think "swap second picks means"?

Their second pick is 24 and ours is 31. They take ours and we take theirs.

this I would do....our #2 for their #4 and #24.

I agree, at 2 we have our pick of players, and dropping to 4 likely only reduces the number of players we could target by 1, seeing as I do not think the Cho would draft another undersized SG this year. Plus I think once we can get a few more weapons Hendo will be a very solid contributor to the team(Not an allstar, but 16 PPG, 5 RPG, 3 Assists and a steal a game would be great for our 3rd option if we could get it. Plus his great on ball def). So it would almost be guaranteed that Beal would go to the Cavs at 2, and then we would have our choice of whoever Washington doesn't pick(MKG, Barnes, or TRob, maybe even Drummond, nothing would surprise me anymore.) Personally I am a big fan of Damian Lillard, I wish there was a way for us to get him without him being a huge reach, but its the same philosophy as I have with Beal, I don't see Cho drafting another guy who is a tweener between a PG and SG.

We could still get a very very good player at 24, with a lot of upside. I think Terrance Jones could end up being the steal of this draft, I would be good with Fab Melo, Royce White, Quincy Miller or Andrew Nicholson.

    • This is a wild statement it’s to late to save his season with six games left? That mountain of bad film as a rookie with trash coaching a weak azz line and dismal WRs. Guys that can’t catch on with other teams or guys traded to teams that are subpar at best. We put Bryce in a terrible situation to start his career does that matter to you or you feel he should’ve, as a rookie elevate this dumpster fire. If you’re giving him a fair assessment judge him off the last four games a good o-line decent WRs still not comparable to any other young QB WR room Hou (tank/nico..) Tua (Hill/Waddle) Caleb (Moore/Rome/Allen) let’s see what he can do with a decent structure around him for the next few weeks then let’s revisit how we’re going to grade or assess his performances.
    • As a bit of counterpoint, if he wanted to continue his professional career then handling it like a mature adult was the only option. Dude had been playing like absolute ass and needed to own it. It's great that he did but it's not like he didn't have a large amount of self interest in doing so. Not picking on Bryce specifically here, as this applies to any player or even anyone struggling early in their career. And he still has a long way to go, but signs are positive.
    • I agree he could still develop, but I think that could still be developed in practice. Just after a scary injury like that, I'm nervous to see him get reps in a live game situation when the best possible outcome is nothing more than worsening our draft selection. That said, I'm 100% not a doctor, so if he's clear to play, he wants to play, and there's no potential of aggravating this injury (which by all accounts it doesn't seem that is the case for this type of injury) then go for it, I guess.   But you hit the nail on the head. This draft class is really impressive. I can't remember the last time I was so impressed with a rookie that I'd actually prefer shutting him down. His game is so apparent that he doesn't need to prove anything at this point. Can't remember the last time that happened!
