Trade Partners?

What's the scoop on possible trade parters for the Cats? Yeah I'm going to call them the 'Cats' now...

Besides Cleveland I mean? What are the actual possibilities of a team giving up a substantial amount of picks to leap frog another team and get that prized player?

Personally I'd like a "Rams" type of deal but I don't believe there's a clear cut number 2 draft choice right?

Cleveland obviously, swapping our 2nd overall pick for their 4th overall pick and 24th overall pick.

Memphis is a team that could part with Rudy Gay and the 25th pick for the 2nd pick, 31st, pick, and (Tyrus Thomas, Gana Diop, or Corey Maggette)

Portland has been thrown around but there is nothing on that front yet.

Houston is also a team that might want to package their picks to move up to the second spot, but it would take a deal like the 14th pick, 16th pick, and (Goran Dragic or Kevin Martin) for the 2nd overall pick.

The Knicks are trying to get into the first round but there is a slim chance that they would be able to give the Bobcats what they want to pry the pick from the Cats.

Utah and Brooklyn don't have first round picks but neither team really has enough assets to make a trade to acquire the second overall pick.

I like the Houston trade but as much as I love Dragic, no way they make that deal with Kemba here.

Cleveland trade scenario is WRONG.

it is our #2 and #31 for their #4 and #24 picks. It is NOT a 2 for 1 trade scenario.

Not according to Rick Bonnell

Bonnell and Rotoworld are reporting that the Bobcats are not willing to give up their 31st unless they absolutely have to and the Cats hold all the cards if the Cavs really want Beal because if the Cavs don't take the offer the Bobcats are offering them then Beal is going to the Wizards.

Just saw that.

The original rumors were to include a swap of second picks. I bet we pushed back to get a better deal.

There was a story on ESPN insider involving a trade discussion between Charlotte and Atlanta. Don't know if rumor, wild speculation, or something legit because I don't have insider access.

Here's the link I found on Google referring to the ESPN Insider article, in case anyone can read it and divulge details:

interesting. allthough, I would trade with cavs first, get the extra picks, trade #4 to ATL for Horford. Robinson will still be there at #4. then u got other picks to wheel and deal back into the mid 1st round.

good call...it's like getting Horford plus picks for 4th....good deal

    • Fans are fed up with this organization's endless string of failures. And, while Morgan's less than a year into his current position, everything he's done is barreling down the same path shat out by his predecessor. If we're just pointing out this alarming lack of discrepancy between the performances of two GMs, it's really not hating. He's just proving to not be a good hire. And, hey, it's alright, because whoever Tepper hires next will, at best, only suck a little bit less. I don't mind people who are optimistic and hope Morgan turns out to be better than he's been thus far. That'd be great. None of us are rooting for him to fail. However, the embarrassing pattern of decisions persists. And it's not a good look.
    • You have to view everything that was done in 2024 through the ‘eliminate excuses for Bryce Young’ lens IMO. It only makes sense that way.     If you allow for that, you will see that Diontae fulfilled his purpose.
    • The Panthers' beat writer called the Johnson trade return "a warm bottle of RC Cola." If you're quick to discount every bit of news that disagrees with your view, maybe your view is the problem. Morgan deals himself a bad hand and he deserves every bit of criticism for it. Fitterer was the worst GM ever, but Morgan is a very similar brand of awful. Certainly when it comes to trades since 2021, Morgan's body of work makes him at best, only one of the worst negotiators in the history of North American professional sports. That's simply pointing out the numerous shortcomings he's put on display. If I point at a guy who shot someone and say "he murdered a guy," I'm not hating on him -- I'm pointing out what he did. If Morgan wants to not be labeled an incompetent clown who makes 31 other franchises better, simply stop being an incompetent clown who makes 31 other franchises better. Or, wait until Tepper makes him the fall guy after Evero.
