One Week After The Draft, Still No Interest In Peppers

Actually it was 6 sacks his rookie season and 6.5 his 2nd season.

Yea, the main thing that sticks out to me is your offense putting the Saints down 20+ points and them coming back to take the lead in the 4th qtr... even if they lost, they still racked up a huge game... that mixed with what Fitzgerald did in the playoffs.

So the Bucs only getting 29 sacks means their secondary is worse then the Panthers, when it produced more turnovers and less yards allowed? thats a lol'er right there...

I cant even take you seriously...considering what you said about Freeman before you guys drafted him, and now looking at your sig. You totally lost any little tiny bit of cred that you might of had around here because of that.

I didn't want Freeman, I made that clear.. but since they drafted him, I have to embrace the fact that he's here.. I'm not going to bash the guy if he's brought in to help the direction of the team. Vertical passing with a run first attack, dude has a huge arm and good mobility.

You take what you get...

Hmmm, I wonder how many would be willing to let Pep go Free Agent right now for an eventual 3rd round compensatory pick in next years draft and 17 million dollars in extra cap space immediately.

You are right, it would almost 100% be a third just for Pep because the formula takes into account FAs from other teams you have signed plus your FA losses and their respective teams performances and individual performances. The Cats have obviously not done anything in FA and have lost quite a few guys. PLUS they have no 1st next year. It would be somewhat tempting, I admit. Still, I think this year they should keep him even at that ungodly # unless they get a good trade offer because I think Pep this year is worth more than a third rounder next year to the Panthers.

Yea, so you tried to make a point and continued to argue about it... to only rescind your statement lol...

I'm fine with Kiffin being gone, with the way they played the last 4 games with him announcing before the week 13 game that he was leaving... it was as if the defense played without any true direction as Kiffin stop giving his all to the Bucs defense. Up to the point when Kiffin made it public he was leaving, the Bucs were 9-3 (in serious playoff contention)... had a top 5 defense, and only allowed 1 rushing TD and 1 100 yard rushing game (same game vs the Chiefs)...

If you remember right, we stopped Carolina on the goal line week 6 and it was your guys only 3 points of that whole game.

Compare that last 4 game stretch to the first 12 game stretch and you tell me if there is a difference.

I'm fine with Jim Bates though, he's produced some good defenses and he was the next best option for us.. I'm fine with the Bucs defense, its not as bad as people try to make it out to be.

Peppers definatley won't get the kind of money he wants, unless it comes from Carolina... Basically if Carolina keeps him this year and franchises him next year again and is stuck with him... then Peppers will have made close to 37kk in guaranteed money this season and next from Carolina.

Which, is more then Haynesworth or Stafford when it comes down to it...

Yup.. he's stuck in Carolina because of the Panthers... so, I don't expect to see too big of a year out of him and he'll continue with the "I haven't reached my potential" crap that he spewed this off-season. He's a baller though, so hard saying... even as good as he is, he still gets beat more often then he gets in the backfield.

And yet he is still better than any DE on the lowly Bucs. You should spend more time being a critic of your team...based on the roster the Bucs have, you should find that a full-time job.

    • I call bullshit. Brady,Manning,Brees and Burrow are all just ball distributors. And the better thier supporting cast and more experience they got the better they got. Thier best attributes were between the ears.  Now I'm not saying Bryce is gonna turn into one of them but what I want is for him. Is to have a solid roster around him and some coaching continuity too see if he takes the next step. Because everything I've seen and read after the benching is that his mental toughness and workethic are what we need in a QB
    • Many criticize our picks in 2024. I believe that most of them were picked because their ceiling is better than those selected before them.  XLs needs to learn how to play in the NFL. Once he gets up to speed he'll be worthy of 32nd pick.  Brooks, showed why we took him in the few games he played. The ACL injury really sucks but he can overcome these setbacks. Remember TD had 3 ACLs and eventually will be in the ring of honor one day.  Wallace will be a solid LB going forward with experience  Sanders, TE is a tough position to play. He a getting valuable playing time and will become a good TE.  Going down the remaining draft pics all seem to have a good upside. They may not be showing much now but they will start showing their worth next season.
    • I think he's shown enough that if a QB fell to us at our pick we'd either draft a defensive player or trade down for more picks.
