Plaxico coming to Charlotte?

Hurney has been stubborn for years about the WR position.

We have one very good but aging receiver whom we majorly lucked out on for a mere 3rd round pick. Who else since? Keary colbert, drew carter dwayne jarrett, armanti edwards..

Homers on this board just ride the lafell and gettis train but never see the bigger picture.

Steve smith will only be around a few more years. We've wasted enough of his prime surrounding him with inadequate help. In no way am I saying burress is that, I'm speaking in general.

Well, this happens to be a thread about Burress and if you are looking at the big picture than he's not an option. I hope wanting your young guys to continue to grow is not considered being a homer.

Well perhaps if past seasons of the "so and so will have a breakout year just wait" approach had not been the same lessons learned repeatedly. Maybe I could hope for the best. Our results in the past speak for themselves.

That's kinda the point of the thread though. Burress, or no Burress?

Whether or not you think the receiving corps needs help from some other source is a different discussion.

Why shouldn't they? What multiple Super Bowls have the Panthers won? What's the point in only signing practice squad players?

The 49ers signed Moss what do the Panthers organization know that the 49ers don't? The Patriots signed Ocho last season and now the Dolphins have followed suit, what's so horrific about signing a proven veteran for the cheap when you're going into a promising season with alot of unproven players, Plaxico would instantly be a upgrade Red Zone target for Newton, if we're really about winning championships we should take chances and make moves that championship organization do all the time.

Fact is we're going to have to overpower teams offensively if we are going to be successful, we still have alot of young unproven talent on defense, and as good as Beason is and as good as rookie Kuechly could be, those two players alone aren't going to instantly make this a top defense, so we are banking on alot of ifs and hopes on that side of the ball.

So instead of asking why, ask why not?

"Why not" is because they pretty much never go for this kind of signing. What would indicate they're suddenly going to change their minds?

The Panthers as a team prefer to build through the draft. Like it or dislike it, that's their way.

And let's be real. Lack of a mid-30s receiver with a laundry list of past incidents is not what's standing between us and a Super Bowl.

Sorry guys, but this is just not something I see happening (and I'm perfectly fine with that).

So far this offseason, the Panthers have...

...shown no interest in Randy Moss

...shown no interest in Terrell Owens

...shown no interest in Chad "Ochocinco" Johnson

Heck, they didn't even cast an eye toward Vincent Jackson, someone who was younger - and at this point, probably better - than all those guys and had history with both Rivera and Chudzinski.

In the light of all that, I'm not sure what makes people think they'll have any interest in Plaxico Burress.

Yah like we were going to pay big bucks for Vjax

I didnt know this was the same panther team from years past. I mean we did sign shockey last year tho right?? What a failure that was....

If i said once i will say it again people need to stop drinkin the cool aid on this offense. One year of success in a 6-10 season doesnt validate anything. still room for plenty of improvement, and shockey is currently not on the team so technically we just got worse at the moment until we see live action to really know if we are better. Point is we can use all the help we can get as long as it doesnt affect us in a bad way for the long run.
