Plaxico coming to Charlotte?

Without Shockey in the mix I dont see how having a good tall WR would be a bad thing. The chances of that no name rookie that had the nice grab is next to nothing while the chances of Plex making it are far greater. Having a guy come in on a one year deal is not such a bad thing. If he does not workout you just cut him and the whole talk about him being a cancer is way over blown. Rivera is one of the few coaches that you will respect one way or another and I have little fear in him losing his team to one player like Fox did on occasion.

Heck yes, the dude is a legit red zone threat and adding Plax literally puts us six deep at wide out. Everyone is always asking who is going to be the sixth, who is going to be the sixth, who is going to be the sixth? With Plax, no one has to ask that question anymore.

At this point, he just wants to play ball... so sign him and let him compete with Gettis for the third wide receiver spot and maybe he can even prove to be a legit number two guy.

1. Steve Smith

2. Brandon LaFell

3. Plaxico Burress

4. David Gettis

5. Kealoha Pilares

6. Joe Adams

That looks pretty dang good to me.

Adams takes Edwards place, Gettis take Legadu spot. Who are you going to cut to get PB in Carolina for 1 or 2 years?

LaFelll has the skills and the Size that Burress brings. I see no advantage in bring is Burress.

Ajirotutu, but that may deplete the special teams some

It isn't about LaFell but the next 3 guys. Adams is a great punt returner but not a great receiver by any means. Gettis isn't even participating in minicamp and is a question mark as far as returning to form this season. Barnidge is also a big question mark. Besides Smith, LaFell and Olsen the remainder are huge question marks. Plaxico would be better than anyone else on the team.

I still just don't see the wisdom in bringing in an aging basically average receiver to add to the pool of younger average (with potential to be more than than average in several cases) receivers. If one fell into our laps that was head and shoulders better than anyone south of Smitty then I'd be all for it.

But I really really really don't think Plaxico is the guy to do that. I believe it's a sidegrade at best and that's a waste of time and money.

Also you can't ignore the fact that we have some kind of awesomeness committee going on in the backfield...honestly how many balls are there to go around? At some point enough is enough unless you're talking about a significantly measurable upgrade...which he is not.

After observing the behavior here before and after we drafted cam, I laugh at some of these "objective" opinions.

Newton being good is completely unrelated to whether we should or should not bring in a 35 year old wide receiver

IDK if Plax would be a good fit but in his defense he was being thrown to by Sanchez, who in my humble opinon, short of The Golden Calf of Bristol, is the most overrated QB in the leauge.
