Let's look at NC Cities:

Greensboro - Strip malls

Raleigh - Larger amount of strip malls with a handful of South Asian engineers to provide "culture".

Charlotte - Even larger amount of strip malls with a deserted downtown. Populated by bankers with bad haircuts.

Fayetteville - Giant poo hole

Asheville - Cool town overrun by hippies and retired people

Wilmington - Small charming coastal town reminiscent of Beaufort, SC

Charleston is an anomaly for both of the Carolinas, honestly.

I've lived in Charlotte and Charleston.

Charlotte is not the same caliber of city as Charleston in terms of food, culture, nightlife, and things to do in general. And it's not even remotely close. It's not even in the same galaxy.

Somehow when Johnson and Wales moved here I thought the culinary aspects of Charlotte would improve while Charleston would stagnate a little. However that aspect of Charleston has grown and improve in ways I don't think anyone expected. It's very impressive there at the moment.

yeah, Charleston pretty much poos all over Charlotte. Charleston also has some pretty nice beaches surrounding it. Nice little nobody beaches (or at least they use to be.....dang tourist are starting to invade them).

I married a girl outta Hilton Head Island ... now there is never a reason to go back to that place

I'm from New Bern and grew up in the state of NC. The only good thing about SC is that it borders NC.
