Anyone ever gone to EDC? If so how was it? What should I expect?  I'm thinking about going to the one in Orlando this year.

I know they just had EDC Las Vegas a couple weeks ago. I was considering trying to go for awhile but ultimately decided I didn't want to be the creepy old guy there. Really wish I took advantage and went to these types of things when I was younger, especially Tomorrowland. If you get the chance to attend EDC, I hope you go.

I went to EDC Vegas in 2012.  Its a pretty awesome experience and I'd highly recommend it.  If you're a fan of the music you're going to have a good time no matter what, just too many good artist in one place to not find something you dig.

Regardless of the music, the crazy(sexy) costumes, carnival rides, and overall atmosphere are almost worth it for someone who doesn't care for the music.  I would recommend either having a high booze budget (if you're into that) or pregaming as far as drinking goes as nothing is cheap inside.  At least water is free now though which is clutch for a certain crowd...

Just be sure to pace yourself, I'm not sure about Orlando but in Vegas things kicked off around 9pm and didn't stop until 5 AM...Amateurs need not apply.  If you want to know any other specifics I can try to answer.

Next up I want to do Tomorrowland (now in ATL but missed it this year since I snoozed my alarm to buy tickets :( ) or maybe Ultra (though I'm not a big fan of Miami).

So do a lot of people drink at these festivals or is it mostly a drug induced euphoria that people are under?

both

and if you've never been to a music festival before, of any kind... be prepared for a huge culture shock.  especially with these solely EDM focused fests.  the EDM scene has changed dramatically over the past two years and there's been a major influx of the bro's and sorority chicks now that the music has gotten a little more mainstream.  they show very little respect for the music, themselves and definitely others...

Tough to say, I stick to alcohol myself but I'm sure there's plenty of stuff out there.  They do a pretty good search/check on the way in the door (you can't bring in anything that's not sealed, cigs, chapstick, you name it) but if people wanted to get something in it would happen.

I don't remember seeing too many people who seemed like they were tripping out but then again amongst all the lights, music, and dancing I wasn't really paying attention.

Literally as of the past hour, I've been getting into the mellow side of EDM, my first experience actually vibing out to the electronic genre, considering I'm a huge acoustic & hip-hop guy.

But holy sh*t, I have to bump this thread for this gem. In fact that whole Youtube channel is loaded with stuff I can really mess with.
