Is it time to give up on Jeff Otah?

That statement is so false it hurts. Just saying his teammates like him and see his potential, breathe.

If it is so false then you can easily name one example of worse T play....anyone worse was benched

if he can outright win the starting gig from otah with otah being healthy....i'm totally cool with that. i don't care where either guy was drafted. at this point it's irrelevant and, imo, people get too hung up on that. if bell does win that then otah could finish his last year here as a backup....which would be awesome on it's own. otah is good at what he does. as a backup it would mean the panthers have an absolutely amazing Oline.

i just have my doubts that bell could be dominant as an OT. i think he will be better than last year...and that last year he was playing like a rookie being asked to start on the oline (they all play like they have skates on their feet).

i'm just thinking that otah...in those moments that he's healthy...is one of the best. i'm hoping that he can be healthy enough to help out.

Byron Bell was starting because our first round draft pick was injured, again. Bell was a rookie UDFA, and was part of the offensive line that helped Cam Newton have the most impressive rookie season in NFL history.

I'm not gonna sit here and name guys for you to compare to Bell, but I saw some shitty tackle play. And you didn't say starter at first so that means out of ANY tackle we've in our history that's played a snap, you think Bell was the worst lol.

Clausen has no purpose here. He can't even be groomed to replace DA as a backup. Spot is better suited for a young nobody who might fit the scheme for grooming

Thinking Clausen will ever fit in an offense built around the deep ball isn't logical

who do you propose be our #3 guy oh wise one?

Don't care why he was strarting.... That doesn't matter now.

Cam Newton made Bell look slightly better in the same why Clausen can make good OL play look like poo. QB play can fool you....

My post was implying starting T play. Bell's play at T was the worst we have seen over the course of a season. Cam being an uber talent caused people not to call for his head.

Got no problem with young guys on a roster trying to develop them. He shouldn't start. If he improves, he still likely will be below average and a liability. Don't need liabilities on the OL with a franchise QB

A raw young guy with a big arm that isn't afraid to stay in the pocket. He would be a project. You know, someone with a skill set that fits the offense.

Clausen serves no purpose. He takes up a spot that could be used to try to develop a backup once DA is gone.

Name isn't important. Skill set is. Fitting an offense is HUGE. It often makes or breaks the real talented guys. Guys like Clausen have no chance (less talented) in a scheme they don't fit.

He steps on the field we automatically have the least explosive and one of the worst offenses in the league

Nope, it's the last year of his contract so it might be time to give up on him after this season.

That's the pragmatic option.

With that said, I wouldn't be terribly surprised to see Rivera ship him elsewhere or dump him outright. There are some indications that he could be deep in Rivera's doghouse. I suppose we'll see.

Bell still looks more like a guard than a tackle to me.
