I40 road trip

Did that when I left the Army. Drove from Anchorage Alaska to Tok, Alaska. Took a 5 day ferry trip from there to Bellingham Washington. Then drove I-70 across was a great trip and saw alot of interesting places. Cant do that on this trip as I want to spend as much time as possible in NC. Still planning on 5 days to drive but wont need them all hopefully. I was trying to find things alone 40 but didnt see much. Might make a detour and see Carlsbad Caverns and the Hoover Dam. Nothing else I saw interested me like the Cadillac Ranch.

Reason Im driving the car is a couple of reasons. 1 it is paid for. 2 it isnt that old 2006. 3. Gets good gas mileage around 35mpg. 4 even if I sold it I could buy the same thing here in Hawaii would cosT alot more.

Amtrak really needs a Car Train from the East Coast to the West Coast.

Another reason is that if you sell it in Hawaii, you can sell it for more than you would on the Mainland. In fact, thats what I would do if you decide to leave in 4-5 years.

take I40 to nashville, head north and make your way to saint louis, head west on I70 to kansas city and then head northwest on I59. jump on 80W in Omaha and drive across Nebraska, peels off to 76 in NE colorado, ends in denver, and from there you take 70 west through the rockies before butting into 15 in Utah, which will take you straight to LA.

of all the plains states nebraska is far and away the most interesting one to drive through.

I did a five week road trip two summers ago. Charlotte to DC, to NYC, to Niagara Falls (Canada side), through Michigan to Chicago, to the Badlands NP in South Dakota, to Yellowstone NP, to the Oregon coast, down to San Francisco, to L.A., to Vegas, through many beautiful spots in AZ and UT, to the mountains in CO, down to NM, to Austin, to Atlanta. back to Charlotte.

Before I forget, you might want to stop in Albuquerque. Yes, ABQ. It's actually a nice place. Look for Taco Cabana, they are an amazing 'fast food' restaurant, that's really not fast food like burgers but it's really quickly prepared and healthy which is almost unbelievable. As you can guess it is a mexican type restaurant but the food is really really good. Fresh, crisp and delicious.

I hear you can get some blue meth if you stop at Los Pollos Hermanos
