Face of the franchise?

Beason IMO is better then Ray or Urlacher.

Ray's main advantage is having Ed Reed behind him and a stout dline infront of him... I think the Ravens will take a drop in defense this year.

Is Beason a vocal guy?

Talent wise, he's 2nd best behind Pat Willis at the MLB spot.

Yep I've heard a few stories about him giving speeches at halftime as a Rook he's obviously vocal on the field. Most intense Panther besides Smitty...

Right now it's Simth, Kasay, and Delhomme.

The faces of tomorrow are The Beast, Gamble, and DWill. Probably JStew if he continues here (which I pray he does).

As for the rookies this year that may become franchise players, I think Brown, Placido, Goodson, and Munnerlyn (yep, I'm going with the Captain) are the players to put hope in.

Go ahead, call me crazy, you're half right.

Before it would have been Smitty, without a doubt.

however, Double Trouble is quickly gaining ground as the official spokespeople of the franchise, and if they can sustain their success, it's just given to them.

as far as defensive players go, at most it's a local thing they would be the mouthpiece, but when you get into the national media they are going to constantly highlight the guys who score, which is most likely an offensive player (Williams led the league with 20 rush TDs). So most non panther fans saw Williams breaking away and scoring most weeks, and at some point, the first thing that pops up in their head when someone mentions "Panthers" is an image of DeAngelo.

i think steve smith is the REAL face of the franchise, but he gets disqualified for punching people in the face

if peppers would lighten up he would be in the running

so again, our best players on defense AND offense are disqualified

it really goes to deangelo williams and jon beason

Beason gained alot of noteriety by leading the league in tackles last season and his story is just kind of expanding from there (vocal leader, playing injured, etc). This coming season he will define this franchise, and #52 will be just as memorable as #34 IMHO.
