LOL at you guys assuming that I'm not an avid golfer. He's the inspiration and reason I even took the sport up. Golf would likely be dead with Tiger not in the mix. Maybe not now, because he's already changed the sport for better or worse... But to say that Tiger Woods isn't golf is CRAZY. Seriously. Go out on the streets and ask 10 random people the next time you're out and ask them the first name that comes to their mind. At least 9 of 10 would say tiger.

Don't believe me??? Then do it! Not to mention the severe drop in ratings when he's not playing. Get real. Like I said if u want to hate him you can.... But to argue proven facts and stats is just plain dumb

I couldn't disagree with this more. Tiger is one player. Yes, he's a star, yes the galleries love him and the networks do too. yes, he is arguably the best player ever (although I think Jack still has the edge), but no, he is not golf.

There are SO many good players on tour, so many players that I love to watch I can't even name them all, Phil, DJ, Bubba, Haas, Fowler, Rory, Tom Watson, Anthony Kim, Stricker, Vegas, and on and on...

.

Ah yes, lots of excellent golfers to watch but we can only see this Sunday those who were good enough to make the cut this week.

Hopefully this Hossler kid will fall off the board soon so we actually get coverage of the Pros leading the Open.

By the way....I think the fact that we had prime time major golf also helped the ratings.

After the first round the reporter was asking him about Beau's first round. Tiger basically said he wasn't impressed cause it was just one round & there was a lot of golf left. Then he said, "So we'll just see. *smirk* You know, I won a major championship as a amateur. *smirk*"

Arrogant, self-absorbed dickhead.

Proven facts? That golf would be dead without Tiger... Are u kidding me? That's not even remotely true.

Just because he's the most recognizable name doesn't mean he is golf. What happened to all those tourneys and purses when he didn't play for a year? That's right... Nothing happened. Tournaments went right on without him. He is not golf.

What most Tiger "fans" fail to recognize is Tiger has been largely irrelevant for 4 years since his Escalade vs. tree adventure.

And he's but a mere shadow of his former self.
