Gamble, who became the Panthers' all-time interception leader in 2011 with an impressive bounce-back season, believes the defense will bounce back collectively in 2012 after ranking in the bottom 10 of the NFL in passing yards and touchdowns allowed.

He's played in 119 games over his eight NFL seasons, more than the six other corners on the 90-man roster combined. While the other six have 11 interceptions between them, Gamble has 27, surpassing the previous franchise record of 25 by Eric Davis with three last season.

Gamble didn't have any interceptions in 2010, the only time that's happened in his career. The new coaching staff, however, put immense faith in Gamble last season by consistently putting him on the opponent's top receiver. He responded by holding the likes of Larry Fitzgerald and Calvin Johnson in check.

"Josh has a lot of learning to do, and I'm going to be there to help him and keep him on his feet," Gamble said. "He's always around the ball. He's tall, kind of like me, and I can see some physicality in him. He's an athlete."

"Brandon is doing well out there technique-wise. He's making plays, just doing his thing. Everybody is doing well in the secondary."

I'm getting giddy for the D. Somehow I think they'll be fine after all. I just hope they don't buy too much into these pundits saying " The panthers will win the division" and become complacent and relaxed.

They need to be on edge and have a chip on their shoulders. Time to decimate the opposition.

said it a lot before..i fully expect the defense to rebound the way the offense did last year.

i am 100% in agreement with gamble. glad to see he's stepping up the way he is and that the secondary is shaping up the way it is.

The Dolphins are 8-8 this year and are 6-2 against the Panthers all-time. *Seattle Seahawks. This home matchup marks a full-circle moment for Dave Canales, who cut his NFL teeth under Pete Carroll in Seattle. Carolina is 4-9 all-time against the Seahawks and lost the last contest in the matchup in 2023. Seattle is 9-7 heading into Week 18. *Los Angeles Rams. The Rams are perennial playoff contenders and have notched seven winning seasons the past eight years. The Panthers are 12-10 against the Rams all-time. *Buffalo Bills. This year it was the Kansas City Chiefs. This year’s Super Bowl contenders making a trip to Bank of America Stadium? Josh Allen and the Bills. The Panthers are 2-6 all-time against the Buffalo franchise. New York Giants / Cowboys. The Panthers had a home game — technically — against the Giants this year. That was in Germany, of course. At least for now, it feels like a compelling matchup for the Panthers on the road. San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers seem much better than 6-10. And they will likely be in 2025 — particularly if former Panther Christian McCaffreystays healthy. The Panthers are 13-9 against San Francisco all-time. Chicago Bears / Green Bay Packers. The Panthers are either playing the last-placed Bears or the second-to-last-place Packers in 2025, two very different. The mostly that emerged from Soldier Field this season focused on how much the Bears had “fleeced” the Panthers in their blockbuster trade before the 2023 season. But with Bryce Young playing well and the Bears in free fall and with a new coach incoming, that perception might be different next season. Tennessee Titans / Jaguars. The Panthers are facing either the last-place team or the second-to-last place team in the AFC South in 2025, depending on Sunday’s results. (A Titans win and a Jaguars loss could knot them at 4-13 each, but the Jags have the edge with their divisional record and would thus earn the tiebreaker.) Arizona Cardinals. The Panthers are also facing the Cardinals, who are entering Week 18 with a 7-9 record.

      Our offense averages 18.6 points per game, good for 25th in the league this year. Not great. worst offense ever? 7.4 ppg. Over 11 points per game difference. our defense? 31 ppg. Good for 32nd (by a lot) worst defense ever? 32.5 ppg by the 2020 lions.
