Panthers Sign Two Receivers

Would you rather have a 6'2 guy or a 6'4 guy?

I am not saying that it will make or break, but any advantage in the NFL is going to matter.

Face it, Gettis is not as big as the Johnsons, or Vincent Jackson. And there is a reason they are getting paid mega bucks in the NFL.

The reason he isn't paid the mega bucks like them is not because of 2", I'll guarantee you that.

Exactly. Smitty is able to do it at 5'8, but the guy we're talking about is SIX FOOT THREE. We're not talking a munchkin, we're talking a big receiver here. Those 2 inches aren't going to change much at all.

I mean this as a compliment, but SS is not 5'8". He may be THE biggest freak WR in the history of the NFL concerning diminutive status. SS>Mugsy in Charlotte sports history, and to me, that says a lot.

Gotta agree that the reason guys like Megatron and A. Johnson are getting the big bucks is not because they are 6'5" rather than 6'3" or 6'1". It's because they are great receivers.

Smitty is a great one too. The only place his stature is a huge disadvantage is in the red zone. With more field to work with, he get's more separation and it is not so hard to find him on the field. Where things are compressed, his height is more of a problem.

spot on.

it's odd for around here for there to be so many WRs, but they are just doing what it takes keep a lot of bodies in and on the field. we'll be seeing a lot more of the same all offseason.

switching them out frequently isn't an issue to be concerned with. they are just dabbling.

seriously...nothing to get worked up about or start "questioning" what this FO or coaching staff is doing. it just isn't the big deal people are making it out to be.

i wouldn't get too attached to any of these WRs outside of smitty, lafell, gettis, adams, or maybe even pilares, though.

I read somewhere that there are 10 new roster spots this year compared to the past for camp as partbof the new agreement. That's why we are seeing more of these type guys in here.

I'll take the better receiver regardless of height.

could be a huge part of the reason.

i really think they feel they have a solid core of talent and that they can afford to experiment with different players who bring different things to the table...much like tolbert. if they just happen to find some player that is an actual diamond in the rough guy, then cool. if they odn't bring anything all that special to the table then move on sooner rather than later.
