Hardy says he's up to 299...

It is near impossible to get over 2lbs/month of pure muscle naturally. And to do so you have to be a genetic freak. So for you to say you did 5 is impossible. Especially without supplements and just "the occasional" protein shake, and especially with doing the insane amount of cardio that you did during that time. You may have put on 25 lbs. as well as gotten stronger, but you didn't gain 25 lbs. of lean muscle. I'm not trying to call you out or say you are bragging or anything, but you are wrong.

when I was 19 and just finished running track in high school i started powerlifting and went from 140 to 155 in just over 3 months. i did use supplements (whey and creatine), drank a ton of milk and constantly ate high protein fatty foods. I stopped running like I did in track but tried to go for a well paced walk everyday and a jog every few days. I however only lifted 3 or 4 days a week I thought adequate rest was important for muscle growth?

that was 5 years ago and I'm just wondering if I have my numbers confused or if my scale is fuged up? I do have a freakish naturally high metabolism and am grossly scrawny when not working out.

You' d be suprised at the depths to which teams will go to gain some sort of competitive advantage. If I'm scouting the Panthers personnel and I read that one of the starting DE's is 276lbs it might encorage me to run the ball at him more often. If I see that he's 290 then it wouldn' t jump out to me as much.

Of course this is only speculation, but teams do lie about player size/ weight for various reasons.

but CJ is 275, a lower listed weight than hardy.

You didnt gain 15 pounds of muscle. You gained 15 pounds w/ a couple of pounds of muscle.

I was an all state Baseball player and played two years in the Minor Leagues for the Toronto Blue Jays ( pretty sure I have brought that up before on this forum ) and I suffered from something similar. I went to states and finished 8th in the 100m dash and I ran Cross Country as well. So I was a speedy guy but I definitely had plenty of stamina, too. But, for the life of me, I always had tht gassed look even if we were just starting to run. I would breath very heavily immediately but I always had plenty in the tank. Now that you have mentioned it I never noticed it with anyone else before.

I do the same thing. Ill play hours of basketball and be the fastest and squirreliest guy on the court and look to be done after 15 mins. Ill be out there for 3 more hours playing at the same pace tho. I used to do this in cross country, track and when I lifted.

It's not really a bad thing, getting that extra oxygen helps.

Thats what I wanted to know, thing is I was just as fast and light on my feet. Was it just the strength gains in my legs (did tons of squats/deadlifts) more than offset the weight gain?

Also onto the thread. I don't know much about body fat percentages, is 14% good? In comparison to a genetic freak like Peppers (who was also known for his speed and conditioning) would that be in the same ballpark or does 14% mean he's going to be a bit porkier than Pep? Just curious caz Rivera wanted him to keep his weight down.

The smaller you are the easier it is to gain muscle. Plus you were 19 so your body was pumping out massive amounts of testosterone. You very well may have gained 9-10 lbs of muscle during that time plus 5 lbs. of fat. That is very good and under conditions like you said it is possible. You should start doing it again if you're only 24, you are still prime age to be gaining lean muscle mass. Your girlfriend will love it.
