Pep needs to sign and get his ass ready.

I mean if he can turn a undersized Pass rusher in Freeney into a top DE what about a freak like Peppers. I still dont get what the big deal with the 3-4 is with Peppers anyway. I mean he still will rush the passer and still will be doubled. I could not blame him for not wanting to work under Trgocrap but he has a real DC now.

He needs to sign his tender regardless of if he wants to play for us . If he's just worried about being traded to a place he doesn't want to go, couldn't they just put something in his contract to prevent that from happening? Something needs to happen, this situation isn't good for anyone.

Anyone who would trade for Pep under the tender # and one year contract is nutso, IMO. That's the only way he wouldn't have a say in the trade really, is if a team was willing to swallow that 17 large for a year ALONG WITH giving the Panthers what they want in draft picks while also risking losing him the following year or be willing to FT him there at 20 large. If he signs it and they want to trade him somewhere he doesn't want to go, he and his agent merely refuse to redo the tender # into a multi year deal. The "downside" for Pep is that he would then be "stuck" in Carolina for the year where he doesn't want to be. But it would be only 1 year unlike getting traded to Detroit or something under a multi year deal.

Let's face it, no one except Matt Cassel that I know of, even with a REASONABLE tag #, has ever gotten traded under the tag contract.

Yep, it's effing sad Peppers won't do for Carolina (sign a multi-year extension at a 2009 comparatively cap friendly figure) what he will do for another team should a trade ever come to fruition. :frown2::sad::ma::mad2:

I have to wonder how Julius Peppers would do with Brian Baker all over him (and you can bet he would be).

How effective a DL Coach Baker turns out to be still remains to be seen, but one thing I can tell you. He isn't shy, and he will rip you in a heartbeat.

If Peppers joins the team, I hope he isn't very attached to his current a--hole, because Baker is likely to tear him a new one.

Guys that are former DE's that had to convert to LB in a 3-4 have commented on how they always wanted to put their hand on the ground to be a 4-3 rush end. Julius has it backwards..I guess he wants to cover TE's and play zone 40% of the time. Sure he will be pass rushing but it is not like he would rush on every play....I don't know.

This could be a mid-life crisis for him.....

In my experience, "in a shell" shy types don't do well with those types of bosses/coaches.
