Steve Smith a Diva?

Recommended Posts

Steve Smith is a diva. Check out 2010....as he bitched out players and coaches. He may not be the biggest one in the NFL but he definitely

is one. His career backs that up.

Then there are tens of thousands of Diva fans as well. Who didn't bitch at Clausen, Fox, Hurney and Richardson in 2010. Smitty just said what everyone was thinking. I don't think that is a definition of a Diva.

to an extent all WRs are. it goes with the position. they think the key to winning the game is getting the ball in their hands and they want it every play. they can't succeed unless they want the ball more than anyone else and are expecting it every play. they are, in their minds, the center of attention or at least should be.

smith has been every bit the attention ***** that diva WRs are.

and that's not a bad thing...for a WR.

he also has had a very short temper and has trouble tolerating anything resembling incompetence and won't keep his mouth shut about it. there's a few other diva traits he's shown over the years that mainly has to do with him expecting everything to be at a certain level and him being respected for his ability to deliver and being monumentally and obviously frustrated when it doesn't go the way he thinks it should. being a diva doesn't mean being a bitch, btw.

We have the luxury of "knowing" Steve as Panther fans, and we really understand what he is about. Casual NFL fans or fans of other teams will certainly have a different opinion.

As he has yet to call a press conference in his driveway while doing curls and situps, he is no Diva.

Amani Toomer said no doubt he was a Diva. He cited a game in 2008 when Steve was standing at midfield before the game pacing and talking to himself.

No poo, this is how Steve Smith riles himself up, how is that even a diva characteristic? Jesus Amani needs to stop running his fuging motor-mouth before Shockey and Steve have to slap a bitch.

Then Newton is a Diva as well as every other successful quarterback in the game. They all possess the qualities you are ascribing to a Diva. If wanting perfection and not tolerating less is a Diva then Peyton Manning and Tom Brady are the 2 biggest Divas in the league. I never hear them mentioned in that context.

If you are running down the field full out on most every passing play you have to expect the ball to get thrown your way in order to keep up your motivation. Who wants to run on 40 or 45 plays to get the ball thrown your way 1 or 2 times a game?

When you realize that you lead the team in yards per catch, yards after the catch and most every other category thn expecting the ball isn't beiing a Diva so much as knowing that having the ball in your hands gives the team the best chance to win.

If bitching out players and coaches, especially ones who seemingly aren't putting up the same kind of effort he is, is a quality of a diva then being a diva isn't a negative thing after all. I always associated "diva" as a negative quality, a "me first" attitude. By my definition of diva, the negative one, Smitty isn't a diva.

Smith is not a diva! Smith is one of the best WR'ers in the NFL. So what that he's had tantrums and thew a couple of punches, who hasn't or at least haven't wanted to? He's deserverd and earned the Red Carpet treatment here in Charlotte. Its funny how people put others on a platform that they themselves can't even stand on. Smith isn't perfect but he's the perfect WR for the Carolina Panthers!
