................................ :(

That loss hurt. Italy didn't play badly at all but Spain were very clinical unlike us. The Motta injury really killed the game off.

Italy did well to get this far and proved so many people wrong. The icing on the cake would've been victory but someone has to lose....... :(

Spain deserved the win in the end.

Thanks to his goal and assist in garbage time of the final, Fernando Torres ends up as the Golden Boot winner of the Euros (beat Gomez on the assist tiebreaker)

lol how entirely unfitting

He deserved it. He played much less time and you call it garbage time, well anyone else could've scored goals in garbage time. They didn't, he did.

Torres selfless pass late in the game is what Spain and football is all about. No better way to win it than on that play.

I actually like Torres and thought that Spain should have been starting him this whole time- whenever he was in the game it seemed Spain had more direction to their play. I'm not sure "deserved" is the right word though considering he barely played in the most meaningful moments of Spain's run

He deserved it because the rules say it goes to the player who scores the most goals and based on the tiebreaker he had more assists. The award doesn't go to the player who was most influential on the field or on the games. If so it might go to Ozil or Iniesta.

Torres could have scored 7 goals if they let him play a solid shift every game. Then again Gomez was sat on a few occasions as well. It was the oddest tournament in terms of personnel to me. Several players bagged goals only to be dropped the next match. Fabregas, Torres, Carrol, and Gomez to name a few.
